Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir said on Friday that fuel adjustment charges (FAC) would be slashed in next month's electric bills in Islamabad. Because of the drop in oil prices on the international market and the rupee's appreciation against the dollar, the fuel cost has been reduced. Electricity consumers will see a cut in fuel charges on their next month's invoices. The FAC in June was Rs10 per unit, but now it is 22 paisa per unit. During the last couple of months, the price adjustments have been detrimental for individuals, the minister admitted. The government has fully passed on the reduction to the people in accordance with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's orders. Consumers will see a reduction in their electricity bills in the next month, he said. A total of Rs65 billion in relief has been allocated to people using less than 300 units, farmers, and flood-impacted individuals.
