Gandhi Godse – Ek Yudh Review: Movie does not stay true to the idea of revisionism and ended up being a confused product packed well

Gandhi and Godse engage in numerous discussions and disagreements, sometimes clashing inside the prison. Will their disagreements be resolved by this ideological conflict? To know this you have to read the review.

Plot : Godse blames Gandhi for the suffering of Hindus and the partition. On January 30, 1948, he shoots Gandhi, but Gandhi is miraculously saved and forgives Godse. Gandhi launches his Gram Swaraj Movement to encourage communities toward independence after severing relations with The Congress. In the meantime, the system draws attention to Godse’s writing and manipulates public opinion against Gandhi, whose interference has caused a disturbance within the administration. This results in Gandhi’s detention, which he insists on serving alongside Godse. They engage in numerous discussions and disagreements, sometimes clashing inside the prison.

What’s Good : Rajkumar Santoshi’s imaginary and fictitious political drama explores what may have happened if Mahatma Gandhi had survived Nathuram Godse’s three bullet rounds. Gandhi Godse-Ek Yudh is an honest attempt by Santoshi to reinterpret the story. With the underlying message that love and peace should come first, it centres on a fictitious scenario in which Godse and Gandhi square off and engage in a furious ideological war.

Best Bollywood movies of 20th Century

Whats Bad :
Tanisha Santoshi, the director’s daughter, plays a young lady who is forced to decide between serving her country and a decent young guy in the movie’s attempt to probe Gandhi’s strange views on love and celibacy. However, it is handled poorly, just like the movie.
Santoshi’s attempt at revisionism is ruined by his attempt to walk a tightrope while also crossing it. The trailer and disclaimer of the films shows that Godse’s ideologies are presented as it is. Instead this film fails to show Godse’s ideology and philosiphy and his strong reasons for it. This film seems like it is inspired from Whatsapp university messages. Director or writer should have done some research and they should have read some book about Godse, what is Akhand Bharat , Hindutva and Hindu ideology. This film does not do justice to Godse and shows his character in a weak form. Godse and gandhi staying in the same jail doesnot seems convincing. Gandhi ji going to jail on charges of treason does not seem convincing either.

Final Verdict : Gandhi Godse – Ek Yudh Is a very interesting idea but poory executed just like the screenpay. Movie does not stay true to the idea of revisionism and ended up being a confused product packed well.
