Tems makes history with Oscar Nomination for “Original Song”

Nigerian singer, Tems has scored herself an Oscar Nomination, making her the first Nigerian artiste to achieve the feat.

On Tuesday, January 24, the nominations for the 95th Oscars were announced.

Tems was nominated in the “Original Song” category with “Lift Me Up” which she co-wrote with Ryan Coogler for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The song, performed by American superstar, Rihanna is nominated alongside “Applause” (“Tell It like a Woman”), “Hold My Hand” (“Top Gun: Maverick”), “Naatu Naatu” (“RRR”) and “This Is a Life (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”).

The main ceremony is scheduled for March 12 in Los Angeles.
