The Barcelona wonderkid, whose parents were Spanish and Nigerian, made history by playing for Barcelona in the Uefa Champions League at the age of 16 years and 148 days.

Vicky Lopez, also known as Victoria López Serrano Felix, made club history by being the youngest player to ever represent Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League at the age of just 16 years and 148 days.

Vicky Lopez: A pioneer

In the 81st minute of Barcelona's 6-0 demolition of Rosengard, she came on to replace Nigerian forward Asisat Oshoala, cementing her place in club history with her third appearance for the team and her first in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

She surpassed even Asnu Fati, who made his Champions League debut for Barcelona at the age of 17 years and 40 days, and her record is valid for both the male and female Barcelona teams.

Lopez, who was raised in the Catalan club and is well valued there, was born in Madrid to a Spanish father and a Nigerian mother.

Lopez received the Golden Ball at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, when Spain won the gold medal as a result of her outstanding play, which included a brace against Japan in the quarterfinals.

Lopez has shown a desire to play for Nigeria despite representing Spain's U-17 team. Her father stated in 2021 that she would be "extremely pleased if she receives a call-up to play for Nigeria," although it is doubtful that this call-up ever occurred before she was selected to play for Spain's U17 squad.

The powerful center-forward has started one game for Barcelona Femeni far before her 17th birthday, which is way out in July of next year. She has participated in three games overall for the team.

At the senior level, Lopez is still eligible to play for either Spain or Nigeria; it will be exciting to see which she ultimately decides.
