THE ROCKET SUMMER Ventures Into The Unknown On ‘SHADOWKASTERS’

“The Rocket Summer looks to change up things once more, embracing dancehall electronica and a deluge of 90s stylistic references into his arsenal of soundscapes in one of his most inventive, experimental records yet. Though the style has changed, nothing of what has made Bryce Avary one of alt-pop’s most underrated artists has been lost, while so much has been gained.”- Punktastic

“The artist’s latest sonic adventure promises to be one of his most exciting yet, with Avary diving headfirst into indie electronica – blending the worlds of trip-hop, electro, and shoegaze with that charismatic, aching indie rock persona that has dazzled audiences for over fifteen years.” – Atwood Magazine

Ventures Into The Unknown On SHADOWKASTERS
New Album Out Today
On Tour From June 6 – July 12

MAY 12, 2023 (Dallas, TX) – “The fact that SHADOWKASTERS is now out feels as surreal as this album is,” says THE ROCKET SUMMER brainchild Bryce Avary about the release of his newest album SHADOWKASTERS. “It’s a freeing album. There’s a theme of longing and yet moving forward. The music on the record lifts me; I hope it makes people feel like they can fly.” A cross between musical experimentation and creative expression by Avary, SHADOWKASTERS, out now on all DSPs, was self-recorded at his traveling studio Sound Cirque in Denton, TX and Los Angeles, CA. It was preceded by singles “M4U,” “Stuck Inside Your Light,” (chosen as a “Song You Need To Know” by Rolling Stone), and “Sing At The Top.” To celebrate the new release, The Rocket Summer will be headlining a tour with The Juliana Theory and Hellogoodbye as support this summer. “I feel like I went through the wardrobe into Narnia and returned with this album,” continues Avary.

Tapping into long inherent sonically neglected places, Bryce extracted his influences into his own style and “unlocked some hidden doors and explore what’s inside.” Evoking the rhythmic life of electronic dance clubs, UK dance punk halls, and R&B-thumping venues as envisioned through Avary’s creative lens, SHADOWKASTERS breathes with inventiveness and preternaturally sticky melodies, hallmarks of his ever evolving discography.

Dubbed “a master of creating anthems” by Paste Magazine and named by Alternative Press as “100 Artists You Need to Know”, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer, Bryce has been a musical force since exploding onto the scene as a teenager in the early 2000s. Charging out of Texas and onto the international stage, fans have flocked to Avary’s optimistic and exuberant songcraft and the fan community it inspires.

“I’m certainly excited about people sinking their teeth into the new music, seeing how these new songs seep through the cracks and into some new ears, inviting more people into The Rocket Summer family. I also can’t wait to play live,” concludes Avary. “I need to feel normal again and this is where I feel most normal. I’ve been away from performing live for so long that I need to jam and sing and jump and scream with a bunch of wild people ready to explode light. I can’t wait to get these songs out and hear what they sound like with the final most important component added; The Rocket Summer fan community singing them back as the songs officially become theirs.”

SHADOWKASTERS by The Rocket Summer is out today via Aviate Records on all DSPs. The Rocket Summer will be on tour this summer with The Juliana Theory and Hellogoodbye.
