Julie Andrews unlikely to return for 'The Princess Diaries 3'

The Princess Diaries is experiencing a bit of a renaissance when it was revealed that a third chapter may be on the way. Unfortunately for fans, Julie Andrews, who portrayed Queen Clarisse Renaldi, has said that she would most likely not be returning to the show.

The Princess Diaries is a 2001 Disney film about a schoolgirl called Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) who finds she is the Crown Princess of Genovia, a tiny European country. Queen Clarisse, her grandmother, wants to mould Mia into the perfect Princess, but the clumsy and awkward Mia finds this impossible. Their connection forms the backbone of the first film and shapes much of the second film, so when it was reported that a new Princess Diaries film was in the works, fans anticipated that Andrews would also return.

Andrews graciously mentioned in a recent interview with Access Hollywood that she was unlikely to return for a second movie in the Princess Diaries series. "I believe we can all agree that that is unlikely to happen." "She said. "It was discussed immediately after the release of two, but how many years have passed since then? And I'm that much older, and Annie, the princess or queen, is much older. I'm not sure where it'd float or run. I have my doubts about us doing it now."

The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement was released 18 years ago. Mia is no longer a Disney Princess at the conclusion of The Princess Diaries 2; she ascends to the throne of Genovia to reign in her own right. Andrews was 69 at the time of the film's premiere and is now 87. Andrews' last live-action film appearance is in the second Princess Diaries film. She has only provided her voice to feature-length films since then.

Perhaps Andrews will make a surprise appearance in Princess Diaries 3. It's reasonable that, at the age of 87, she wouldn't want to work on a feature-length picture, which may be physically demanding. She may, however, appear in a video conference with her grandchild. She married her love interest, Joe (Hector Elizondo), at the conclusion of the last film, and the two may be on a tropical vacation someplace.

Even though Andrews does not appear in the film, her presence is felt. If the third episode of the Princess Diaries series focuses on Mia's probable kid or children, their connection may be traced back to previous instalments. Any of Mia's successors would be reared in a completely different atmosphere than Mia, so it may be amusing to flip the dynamic, with Mia being a fun-loving Queen attempting to convince her daughter to loosen up.
