When is Amazon Prime Day?

Quick Answer: Amazon Prime Day 2023 will take place on July 11th and 12th. Prime Day is an exclusive sales event for Amazon Prime members. Not a Prime member? No problem. Learn more here.

Every year since 2015, Amazon has held a special sale for very special customers. Prime Day is its name, and it’s an exclusive-only shopping event for Amazon Prime members.

The name is slightly misleading, as since 2017, the event has taken place over 48 hours of unbridled deals from every category that Amazon sells things in.

That includes tech, entertainment, gaming, and more, usually with some deep discounts on time-limited lightning deals.

Considering the enticing discounts on offer, you’re probably curious about when Amazon plans to host Prime Day. Rest assured; we’ll provide that information and everything else necessary to secure those deals.

So, when is Amazon Prime Day?

Short answer: July 11, 12 2023.

Amazon concocted the idea of Prime Day back in 2015. It was a quaint little one-day event nestled comfortably in mid-July. But by 2017, the retailer couldn’t resist stretching it into a full-blown 48-hour sales marathon.

Every year since then, the shopping festival has boosted Amazon’s balance sheets outside of the year-end holiday sales. Amazon has tried to stick to mid-July each year, but then the pandemic started.

Prime Day 2020 didn’t arrive until October of that year, as Amazon kept delaying it due to logistical issues. In 2021, Prime Day was held in June, maybe to balance out how late it was the year before. But what before that?

We’ve compiled a historical snapshot of Amazon Prime Day deals, and it’s quite remarkable to see how time has passed. Here’s a brief chronology for your reference.

YearDate of Amazon Prime Day
2015July 15
2016July 12
2017July 11-12
2018July 16-17
2019July 15-16
2020October 13 -14
2021June 21 -22
2022July 12 -13

It’s worth noting that the event expanded to span two days from 2017 onwards. Additionally, the global pandemic led to schedule adjustments in both 2020 and 2021.

Expect the 48 hours of sales to come in July again this year. Just remember, you’ll need an Amazon Prime account to take advantage of these sales when they arrive. Here’s how to sign up.
