Music for Kids: Music streaming with parental controls

Music for Kids - On your mobile phone fingertips!

Music stores and Music streaming apps have left no stone unturned in their quest to increase user base volumes. The likes of Youtube and Spotify having a dedicated space for Music for Kids underscores the significance of this tricky yet key demographic segment. The easy availability of music streaming apps on mobile phones has allowed children and kids to easily access music with the help of their parents.

While there is no dearth of mobile apps for kids covering a wide gamut of musical services such as learning, playing, audiobooks, gaming or just simply enjoying the available music and sounds in the mobile phone apps, the focus of this blog post is restricted to music streaming apps only.

Spotify Kids

Spotify's music for kids offering comes bundled with a Spotify Premium Family subscription, which means parents are in direct control from the start. Playlists for children, kids channels and singalongs are neatly packed for a fun in-app experience.

Youtube Kids

The online video giant Youtube's own kid-content platform Youtube Kids boasts a massive volume of family-friendly content for children and as in the case of Spotify, parents are in charge from the word go! Filters help in preventing inappropriate content from showing up.

The success of kids channels in Youtube (music and other categories) is the clearest indication of how a well-curated and managed approach can bring in the results and big bucks. It is no surprise to learn that kids content is a huge money-spinner. Cashnetusa reveals that Cocomelon - a kids-content channel with 149 million subscribers is the highest earner with $282 million followed by Argentine kids content channel El Reino Infantil with 54.2 million subscribers that raked in $102 million. India's ChuChu TV with 60.2 million subscribers hit $81 million in the Rest of Asia and Oceania region.

iHeartRadioFamily

With a plethora of songs and stories for kids, iHeartRadio's iHeartRadioFamily App comes in a sweet package. Available across a wide range of devices ranging from iPhones, iPads, Android phones, Android TV, Roku, Amazon Fire tablets and Amazon Fire TV, it also comes with Amazon Free Time.

Since the iHeartRadio Family app meets all Children's Online Privacy Protection (COPPA) standards, parental controls are fully taken care of.

Gabb Music

Gabb Wireless app - Gabb Music - appears to be a 100%-focused app for kids and teens. A quick run-through of their website shows they have done an in-depth study of the numerous problems faced by kids and teens on the back of uncontrolled growth in content complicated further by the unlimited access to the internet.

Add to this, the scourge of explicit content, social media prowling, cyber bullying and excess screen time spent on a day to day basis, Gabb Music have done a decent job of covering the entire gamut of kid-content issues and produced a safe and sure music streaming product that could probably be among the best in the industry. Gabb Wireless even sells kid-safe phones.

If parents are looking for an app beyond Spotify or Youtube, Gabb Music is highly recommended.

Pandora

Pandora also offers kid-friendly radio stations that are fun and educational. Toddler Music is yet another attractive proposition for parents to check out.
