How To Make Colorful Felt Easter Eggs

Here’s a simple tutorial for how to make colorful felt Easter Eggs that are perfect for spring and Easter Decorating!

Customize with buttons, ricrac and beads!

Felt crafts are some of my favorites because felt is so easy to work with, it’s inexpensive, it comes in a wide range of colors, and it doesn’t fray.

That checks off almost every one of my desires for crafting.  With that in mind, I decided to make colorful felt Easter eggs as part of this month’s Craft Lightning, i.e., crafts that require a minimal amount of time to make.

How To Assemble – Felt Easter Eggs

I started by cutting out egg shapes from cardstock in two different sizes using my Cricut Design to set up the sizes and then let the machine do the cutting.  If you have a Cricut Maker you can also use it to cut through the felt, which would be a time saver.

Next, trace the egg shapes onto your felt.

You will need one set (2 pieces) for each egg you want to make.

I also cut some extra eggs in half at an angle to create two-tones eggs and cut a zigzag pattern from yellow felt to add to the eggs for design.

Use a glue gun to add trim (ricrac, buttons, ribbon) to the front of each egg BEFORE you sew your egg front and back together.

Use three-strands of embroidery floss in contrasting colors to attach the egg front to the back using a blanket stitch.

After you’ve sewn the egg about three-fourths of the way around, stop and add the fiberfill then continue sewing the entire way around the egg.
