We turned our brand new, wide open, white Foyer into a functional, meaningful and kid-friendly set-up, thanks to our friends at Real Deals! The foyer décor now matches the rest of our modern farmhouse and it’s so beautiful, I had to share it with you!!!

When I think of my style, the first thing that comes to mind is Modern Farmhouse.  But even more-so, I like décor that’s functional, meaningful and of course, kid friendly. 

When we first built our house, I was intimidated by the big open white wall right in the entrance of our house. It seemed like a huge space to decorate, and I honestly wasn’t even sure where to begin. 

So, when my friend Lindsey at Real Deals (Ankeny, IA) reached out and wanted to partner on a home décor project, I knew the foyer was exactly what I needed her help with.  And let me tell you, what she put together for me was all I had dreamed of and more!  Not only is it gorgeous, it’s also functional, meaningful and kid-friendly.

Ok, now back to our foyer décor!!! I could go on and on about what I Love about this space, but I’m breaking it into three main reasons.

Functional

First off, having a mirror as a centerpiece of the foyer display was a genius idea on Lindsey’s part.  Being able to have one last look in the mirror before running out the door is super nice – especially when you realize you’ve got spit-up or toothpaste on your shirt!

And I love how the baskets on the bottom look nice and clean, but also help keep items organized.  Kids books, for example, are easy for the kiddos to grab and they can put them away themselves.

Do I need to mention the functionality of a cute blanket and pillow?!  I can literally never have too many blankets.  And this blanket and giant pillow is almost too adorable to move from their perch on the cutest rustic wooden shelves!

And I love how easy it is to use old fall décor (that I had in the old house) to change this display up just a bit to adapt it to the season. I’m already excited to fill the vase with Christmas twigs and replace the spiky plant (far left side of the display) with a itty bitty Christmas tree!!

Meaningful

I love that “home” and “family” are two things that jump out to me on the top shelf of our foyer display.  And what better way to enter the house than to be reminded of how lucky I am to have a home filled with a loving husband and two sweet, sweet girls?!

The family photos are placed in two gorgeous black frames that mesh perfectly with the mirror and other accent pieces.  I love all the pieces in this set-up, but seeing those sweet faces every time I come and go is truly the BEST!

Kid-Friendly

Let’s be honest….pretty, fragile décor close to the ground is just a disaster waiting to happen when littles are around!  And that’s why I love how everything is placed on this beautiful table.  Any fragile pieces of décor (such as the frames) are on top, close to the back where my toddler can’t reach.  And everything in her reach is still adorable, but pretty much indestructible.  Though, I shouldn’t say that because she’d be the kid that would find a way!
