Southern Peach Cocktail – The Soccer Mom Blog

The Southern Peach Cocktail is a blend of sweet peaches and smokey bourbon — easy and refreshing, it’s the ultimate summer drink!

“The Southern Peach”

When it comes to Southern cuisine, peaches are always on the menu! Southern peaches are hard to beat! I haven’t had much luck growing them here in South Texas, but my dream is to one day have a Peach tree in my backyard!

In the meantime, this Southern Peach Cocktail will have to do the trick!

A Southern Peach is a cocktail made from Bourbon (whiskey), peach schnapps and juice.

I’m not usually much of a bourbon drinker, but this is one delicious drink! It’s sweet, but definitely has a kick! And the strong bourbon is balanced out by the smooth fruit flavors.

In addition to being quite tasty, this drink is pretty too! It is a bright yellow-orange, just like a peach. And a splash of grenadine gives it an ombre look, kind of like a summer sunset!

This easy, colorful, and fruity drink is guaranteed to be a hit at your next summer cookout!

Prep Tips

  • Garnish with a maraschino cherry, lemon wedge, or peach slices.
  • Swap peach juice for the orange juice to make an extra peachy drink! When shopping for peach juice, it may be called “peach nectar” and sold in a can.
  • Muddle fresh peaches and add to the drink for even more real fruit flavor!

Frequently Asked Questions

How Can You Make a Pitcher of this Recipe?

This is an easy recipe to make ahead to serve a crowd! When mixing a pitcher, I recommend NOT adding ice to the pitcher so the drink doesn’t get watered down.

Depending on the size of your container, you’ll want to triple or even quadruple the ingredient amounts. Add the bourbon, peach schnapps, and juice to the pitcher and stir to combine.

When you’re ready to serve, pour into a glass of ice and top with soda.

When making this recipe for a party or a large group, you can omit the grenadine if that’s easier. It’s mainly there to give the drink a colorful ombre look in the glass. Leaving it out won’t really affect the taste that much to be noticeable.

What is the Best Bourbon to Use?

We used Makers Mark when mixing this up originally, because it is a good quality bourbon that isn’t super expensive. However, you’re welcome to use whichever bourbon your prefer.

And if you’re wondering about substituting whiskey for bourbon, you could do that, as the two are similar. However, I would recommend sticking with bourbon because it is generally smoother than whiskey and a little sweeter, since bourbon must be made using a mash that is more than half corn.

Interestingly, Crown Peach Whisky would work perfectly in this drink, because not only is it peach flavored, but it is also made primarily with corn mash.

But again, it’s simply a matter of taste and preference!
