Summer Reading with Percy Jackson & the Olympians

Summer in Texas is HOT.

I love to take the girls outside to play, but when it’s 100°F or hotter, we usually stay indoors until evening when it cools off a bit.

As you can imagine, the kids start to get pretty stir-crazy being stuck inside during the day. However, this year I’m prepared with boredom busters that are both fun AND will keep their brains busy!

My oldest daughter especially loves to read, so I created a summer reading log with her in mind. I’ve uploaded a printable copy so you can enjoy it with your family too.

As you can tell, they’ve been well-loved already!

I know a lot of book reviews will show the featured books photographed in pristine condition. However, it’s pretty much impossible to keep my daughter away from books that she loves – and that’s the whole point of a book anyway, right?

You’re supposed to love on a good book! So hopefully you can tell by the creases in my daughter’s books that these are some of her favorites. She’s read them over and over!

In case you’re not familiar with the series, I asked my daughter to give us parents the scoop:

She explains, “Percy Jackson is a ‘half-blood,’ or demigod – which means one of his parents is a god and the other is human. He goes to a camp for half-bloods where he meets others like himself and they go on lots of weird and crazy adventures.”

The Percy Jackson series is an exquisite blend of fantasy, Greek mythology, and adventure from bestselling author Rick Riordan — it’s no wonder that it’s one of the most popular among tweens and teens.
