In my own artwork and classes, I like to drive Vcv Rack with Max patches, so you can check out my Max tutorials if that interests you. The material below is also incorporated in my free Udemy course, Introduction to Modular Synthesis and VCV Rack.
I find that it’s a nice workflow, using Max for data-driven events and VCV Rack for real-time audio synthesis, sampling, processing and mixing. It’s also a more beginner-friendly approach, which is why I teach visual programming and and modular synthesis together in the second half of my sound design course at SFU.
BTW the first half of that course is focused on linear media soundtracks, and is covered in my free Udemy course, Introduction to Sound Design for Moving Images.
