NEW DELHI: A large contingent of leading business leaders including 32 start-up founders, policymakers, and investors have reached India to discuss and foster a new chapter of economic cooperation between the two nations in the field of digital innovation, semiconductors, drones, start-ups, hydrogen and ammonia, energy efficiency and clean mobility.

Led by Yasutoshi Nishimura, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan, this high level delegation will attend India-Japan Deeptech Innovation & Clean Energy seminar in New Delhi today on Thursday. It is being co-organised by FICCI in partnership with JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) and The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI).

The Seminar will be Addressed by Yasutoshi Nishimura, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan; Hiroshi Suzuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India and Bhutan; Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade; and Suman K Bery, Vice Chairperson, NITI Aayog.

The objective of the seminar is to foster partnership through sharing knowledge, experiences, and expertise between India and Japan in field of deeptech innovation and clean energy. The Seminar is curated to cover a wide range of topics related to the subject such as, digital innovation, semiconductors, drones, start-ups, hydrogen and ammonia, energy efficiency and clean mobility.

Yamagiwa, a member of the House of Representatives, is leading the delegation of Japanese start-ups will attend JETRO×GHV: DX-Conclave on Friday in New Delhi. It is being organized by JETRO, GHV Accelerator, and IVCA. The delegation will discuss the impact of the Japan-India startup collaboration. DXLab, operated by GHV Accelerator and IVCA will host the event. During the event, the winners of the “India Innovation Challenge 2022” will also be announced.

India is becoming one of the world’s most advanced innovation centres, producing a high level of human resources, especially in the digital field. India also has emerged as one of the world’s largest start-up ecosystems, fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancements. Moreover, India is attracting global attention in the field of deeptech, as it is promoting domestic production of semiconductors and electrical devices through India Semiconductor Mission and PLI scheme covering 14 sectors.

Japan’s entrepreneurial spirit, investment and leading innovative technologies provide good opportunities for collaborating with India in field of deeptech and clean energy.
