Happy birthday versatile actress Meenakshi Seshadri!

Her father worked at the Sindri Fertilizer plant, and her mother was a stay-at-home mom.

She has studied four types of Indian classical dance: Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, and Odissi. Vempati Chinna Satyam and Jaya Rama Rao were her dance teachers. At the age of 17, she won the Eve’s Weekly Miss India pageant in 1981. She represented India at the 1981 Miss International pageant in Tokyo, Japan, but did not compete.

Seshadri made her film debut in Painter Babu (1983) alongside Rajeev Goswami, Manoj Kumar’s brother. She gained wider recognition in the same year with the Hindi film Hero, in which she co-starred with Jackie Shroff, and rose to prominence with that film, which was followed by several films in the 1980s and 1990s.

She left the film industry after marrying Harish Mysore, an investment banker, in 1995. The couple has two children, a son and a daughter. Her most recent film was Ghatak, and she now resides in the United States with her husband and children. She is still active in Plano, Texas, where she operates her dance studio, “Cherish Dance School.” “Meenakshi Accept Her Wings,” a documentary about her life, was released too. She is not only an actress, but also a dancer and singer.
She is regarded as one of the best dancers in the Hindi film industry. Meenakshi’s Tandav dance in Damini is one of Indian cinema’s best and most intense dance performances. She prefers to be known as a dancer rather than an actress. She did sing some poetic notes in Kshatriya and Tadap.
