When a user starts a team in Webex App, the app has the capability to automatically create a Microsoft 365 group and connect the team to the group. They will then be able to utilize Microsoft 365 to manage the members on the team, and they will be able to save their files in folders within Microsoft Sharepoint.
Overview
Through this integration, your Webex users will be able to set up groups in Microsoft 365 at the same time that they set up teams in Webex. This is how it will function for your users once the integration has been completed on your end.
You will require administrative access to your Microsoft tenant, the MS365 groups feature, and the users in your Azure Active Directory account. You have the option of syncing users to Webex from your on-premises Active Directory; but, before you can do so, you must first sync users to AD from Azure AD.
In order to check whether or not the users are synchronized and to allow content management, you will require administrative access to your Webex organization.

Webex requirements
- An organization using Webex and a user account with full administrator privileges.
- Webex messaging entitlement for users (enabled free by default).
When you synchronize users from your directory, you may ensure that they are granted this entitlement by assigning licenses automatically, which can be set up in your directory.
- Users synchronized their accounts with Webex using one of the following methods:
Perform user synchronization between your Webex organization and Azure Active Directory.
When you connect to Webex, the externalId field will immediately be supplied with the objectId from Azure.
Users from the on-premises Active Directory can be synchronized.
When you choose this alternative, the first step is to map the property to the externalId in Webex. After that, you will need to synchronize the objectId from Azure AD to your on-premises AD.
Learn how to map AD user attributes to Webex user attributes by reading the Deployment guide for the Directory Connector. Once you have mapped the attributes, synchronize the groups.
You will be able to view the user’s profile in Control Hub and view the External ID property along with its value if the user’s externalId was successfully synchronized. If this condition is not met, the External ID attribute will not be displayed on the profile.
- Active Webex user accounts are ones in which the user has actually logged into Webex.
- You should enable Enterprise Content Management for all of your users after you have configured the settings for your organization’s ECM system. Take a look at this link: https://help.webex.com/nfia8at. These are the options that you have to choose from:

- Choose the content management system offered by Microsoft.
- Toggle Enable related folders.
- Please enter the tenant name for your Azure Active Directory (AD).
- In the event that it is necessary, choose the Microsoft Global instance.

You won’t have access to the option to select the Azure instance unless you are also a tenant in a particular instance, such as Microsoft Germany. In that case, you’ll see that option. Only Webex organizations that are tenants in the Microsoft Global instance will have access to this capability. This feature is only available for Webex organizations.
Enable Groups integration
Before you begin
The externalId field of the Webex user needs to be identical to the objectId property of the Azure user; this is an absolutely necessary prerequisite.
This connection can be created on your Webex users in one of two methods, as follows:
- Option 1: Perform a synchronization of the users in Webex with those in Azure Active Directory. This is the route with the fewest possible steps.

Option 2: The synchronization of the Directory Connector. This entails a two-step process:

- Bring your on-premises Active Directory in sync with Azure Active Directory by synchronizing the user objectId.
The process that must be followed in order to accomplish this sync is not covered by the Webex instructions.
It is possible that some prepended text has to be removed from the objectId. During the export process, Azure will add it.
To prevent data from being overwritten in properties that already contain it, it is recommended that you make use of a new target property in Active Directory to store the objectId of the Azure user.

- You can synchronize the users from your on-premises Active Directory with Webex by using the Directory Connector.
Make certain that the AD property that stores the Azure user objectId is mapped to the Webex externalId field before continuing. You need to do a sync using the “dry run” method to ensure that the property is imported into Webex as expected.
1 Enter your credentials to log in to Control Hub at https://admin.webex.com, then navigate to the Hybrid page.
2 Identify the integration card for the Groups.
3 Select the View requirements option.
The checkboxes denoting conditions for Content Management that have been met are denoted in green on the active list. Control Hub directs you to the appropriate location to finish configuring the content management settings if those settings are missing in some way.
4 Move on to Step 5.
5 After reading the accompanying note about permissions, click the Authorize button.
6 When prompted, provide the administrative credentials you use for Microsoft.
7 After reading through the list of permissions, click the Accept button.

8 To access the settings, click Here.
Hybrid > Groups integration > Edit settings is still another route that can be taken to reach the settings page.
9 Activate the Microsoft 365 Groups Integration by toggling the switch in the appropriate direction.
