Nigerians Have Not Been Stopped From Using Twitter- Malami


The Federal Government has told a centralized high court in Lagos that it has not blocked Nigerians from using the media platform, Twitter, which is used by lots of Nigerians.

The Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and the Federal Government held this in a counter-statement they deposed to replying an originating shift filed by person Human Rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, which was obtained by the court on Thursday.

The government had on June 4, 2021, declared ban on the platform after it deleted a statement by the President, Major-General Mohammadu Buhari (retd.).

However, loads of Nigerians take part in bypassed the peep suspension by means of Virtual Pin Network(VPN).



Malami in an invoice threatened to stop Nigerians from using the platform because of what it did to the President statement to end Biafra subjects as revealed from the statement.


Human Rights lawyer, Effiong, subsequently sued the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Malami, and the central management for suspending the common media platform.

But for now, Nigerians are even now free to manipulate other platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok and others.


Twitter also denies acquaintance of deleting Buhari’s statement on the Biafra civil, which offended countless Nigerians.

It understood platform had allegedly deleted a speech of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Biafra; and had supported the #End SARS protests of October 2020 which was later on hijacked by hoodlums.


The regime added confirmed that Nigerians must supervise their anger at Twitter and not the administration as Twitter would not maintain be tolerated if it contradicts with Nigeria’s laws.
