Haunted Mansion Release Date: It looks like Disney’s movie about a scary mansion will have to wait a few months before it comes out. Disney just announced the release dates for several of their upcoming movies, including Inside Out 2, Mufasa: The Lion King, the CG prequel to the 2019 movie, and the live-action remake of Snow White, among others.

The live-action The Haunted Mansion movie will now come out on a different date than the one that was originally planned. The movie will now come out on August 11, 2023, instead of March 10, 2023, when a trailer for it was shown at D23.

Rosario Dawson will play Gabbie in the upcoming movie. Gabbie is a single mother who moves to New Orleans with her son and buys a mansion that is surprisingly cheap. The reason why the house costs so much? It has ghosts, of course. Gabbie brings together a group of people to help her deal with the hauntings in this house.

Owen Wilson plays a priest on this team, Tiffany Haddish is a psychic, Danny DeVito is a historian, and Lakeith Stanfield is an expert on the supernatural.

This is not the first time Disney has made a movie based on one of their theme park rides. The Pirates of the Caribbean was a huge hit and turned into a six-movie series that people loved. This is also not the first time that The Haunted Mansion is being made into a movie.

The first The Haunted Mansion came out 20 years ago and starred Eddie Murphy, Terence Stamp, Nathaniel Parker, Marsha Thomason, and Jennifer Tilly. The upcoming 2023 movie will be a sort of reboot for the property.

Justin Simien (Dear White People, Bad Hair) will direct The Haunted Mansion in 2023. Katie Dippold will write the script (The Heat, Ghostbusters). In addition to the actors who were already announced, Dan Levy, Danny DeVito, Winona Ryder, Hasan Minhaj, Jared Leto, who will reportedly play the Hatbox Ghost from the Disneyland attraction that the movie is based on, and the famous final girl herself, Jamie Lee Curtis, who will play Madame Leota, will also be in the movie.

The current plan is to release The Haunted Mansion on August 11, 2023. In the meantime, you can watch the film’s trailer from 2003 below.
