Morbius 2 Release Date: Sony hasn’t said anything about Morbius 2, and if we’re being honest, it doesn’t look like it will happen.

Even though it had a good start, Morbius didn’t do well at the box office. It only made $167.5 million worldwide, and even a re-release after it became a meme couldn’t save it.

Obviously, if Sony wants a sequel, it could still happen, and the first movie definitely hints at a second one, and not just because it could involve Spider-Man.

So here’s everything you need to know about a possible Morbius 2, but be warned: there are major Morbius spoilers ahead.

Possible Release Date for Morbius 2: When Can We Expect Morbius 2 to Come Out?

As was said above, Morbius 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet, so there isn’t a set date for when it will come out.

Sony has a lot of Marvel projects coming up in the next two years, starting with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on June 2, 2023. It’s hard to see where the sequel can fit in at the moment.

Kraven the Hunter, another Spider-Man spin-off, will come out on October 6, 2023. El Muerto will come out on January 12, 2024, and Madame Web will come out on February 16, 2024. Also, Venom 3 is coming, but we don’t know when.

Even if it is confirmed, we probably won’t see Morbius 2 until at least 2024, even if it is confirmed.

Who Could Come Back for Morbius 2?

Since Morbius 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet, there are no official announcements about who will play Dr. Michael Morbius, but we think it’s safe to say that Jared Leto will be back in the role.

He’ll probably be joined by Adria Arjona, who will play Martine Bancroft, who has become a vampire (more on that in a bit). Milo, played by Matt Smith, and Dr. Nicholas, played by Jared Harris, won’t come back, though, because they are both killed off in Morbius.

Tyrese Gibson’s character Simon Stroud is a regular enemy of Morbius in the comics, so we can expect to see him and Al Madrigal’s character Alberto Rodriguez, who works with Stroud at the FBI, back in the movie. Gibson says that he has a deal for three movies, so Stroud could show up in other movies as well.

Adrian Toomes, played by Michael Keaton, showed up during the credits for Morbius. If he doesn’t get sent back to the MCU, he’ll probably be back for the sequel. Toomes suggests that he and Morbius work together, which gives the Sinister Six more things to do.

Could Morbius join forces with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man or Tom Hardy’s Venom in a sequel, or fight against them? It’s possible that anything could happen, but we don’t know if it will.

Daniel Espinosa won’t say which Spider-Man is in this world, even though fans think it could be Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.

“There are people at Sony who will have me shot if I say anything,” he joked to IGN. “That’s because if I say anything, I will force them to commit to something.” “I have my own ideas and thoughts, and they are in the movie. That’s what I want.”

He has said that there is a Spider-Man in this universe, but since Tom Holland’s Spidey is still in the MCU, it could be anyone.

Morbius 2 could pick up on two important plot lines: Martine Bancroft’s “death” and Vulture’s hint at the Sinister Six.

Martine is a good place to start. Milo takes Martine hostage to get Morbius to fight with him. Just before Morbius arrives, Milo kills Martine so that Morbius can find her dead.

Morbius drinks from Martine so that her death will “mean something,” and we think that’s the end of her. But after Morbius beats Milo and kills him with the antibody he made, the scene cuts back to where Martine’s body is on the roof, and she opens her eyes.

Fans of comic books will know that Martine goes through this kind of change. She becomes both a “living vampire” like Morbius and a “True Vampire,” which is more like a classic vampire.

It’s unclear which vampire Martine has turned into, but it spells trouble ahead for the couple as in the comics, Martine meets a tragic end when Morbius is forced to kill her to stop her from biting Spider-Man.

Arjona doesn’t know what’s going to happen next with her character, but she’s excited to find out.

“I want to know if she is more good or bad now that she has changed. Or is it hard for her to find a middle ground? What does she do? I’m just curious. I’m as curious as the fans will be,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

The first movie was not a straight adaptation of any comic story. Instead, it was just based on the comics. If there is a sequel, we think the story will again be based on the comics, but it will be an original story in other ways.

Now, let’s talk about the second big plot point that was left open. In the scenes after the credits, Vulture tells Morbius that “a bunch of us guys should work together.” He says they should “do some good,” but we think he means the Sinister Six should do bad things.

Morbius doesn’t have any other appearances by well-known bad guys or antiheroes like Tom Hardy’s Venom or Michael Mando’s Scorpion. It means that we don’t know for sure who will be on the supervillain team in this universe.

Now that Morbius is known and Kraven the Hunter is getting his own movie, a possible Morbius 2 could have more crossovers. It might not be a direct sequel to Morbius but more of a team-up movie like Captain America: Civil War.

Espinosa told Variety that if Sony wanted to do a twist on the Sinister Six, Norman Osborn and Morbius would work well together. “Because it’s been made for so long, there are other options,” he said.

“What I thought was so great about Kevin Feige was how they took many of the myths and picked different parts of them, and how they realised that it doesn’t have to start the same way the comics did.”
