Selena Gomez’s My Mind & Me Review Movie About

Selena Gomez is well-known as a phenomenal music performer, songwriter, actor, and producer. She has been employed since the age of seven.

The glamour, glamour, and controversy certainly fascinate us, but can you imagine what a celebrity is going through behind those “spicy” headlines and horrible questions about their history that they are continually attempting to escape? This documentary is about everything and much more!

In 2016, Selena was diagnosed with Lupus. Since then, she has been battling debilitating anxiety while continually attempting to learn “how to breathe her breath.”

In the previous six years, she has endured a kidney transplant, a nervous breakdown, depression, and the deepest sorrow ever. However, what the outside world sees and concentrates on is depressing.

What’s Good in My Mind & Me

It is commonly believed that documentaries and biographies will reveal the “deepest, darkest” truths that will cause a stir in the industry. However, there is no retribution drama or bad blood because she chose to focus on the greater picture!

It is merely a crude attempt to describe the life of a 30-year-old who has been balancing education, employment, and relationships since age 7. Isn’t that a lot to hear? Imagine the one who has lived it!

Initially, I appreciated how medical conditions were explained in terms that a layperson could understand. For instance, a normal individual would be unable to comprehend what blood pressure range could cause a heart attack in a Lupus patient. But merely mentioning it makes it significantly more fascinating.

Director Alek Keshishian (who previously worked on Madonna’s documentary) has done an outstanding job bringing Gomez’s prior journal entries to life. Even more stunning is the fact that he has left the images unedited.

Selena describes her breakup with Justin Bieber as “the best thing that ever happened to her” at one point. While the videographer interrupts, she refuses to repeat her statement, and the entire sequence is aired without cuts or alterations. Only a magician can appreciate its beauty!

Selena believes she was put on this earth to do good, and this documentary is a significant contribution to aiding those who have struggled with mental health. From discussing her breakdowns to coping with the chaos, she simply encourages us to trust in the adage “this too shall pass.”

The background music (of her past songs) and film from her stage performances are just so appropriate, yet minimal to maintain the subject’s prominence.

The sensitive and frightening topic of depression is typically a trigger for many people, yet it is addressed in a remarkable manner that will also motivate you to “kill them with kindness.” Mandy Teefey and Raquelle Stevens deserve praise for demonstrating why friends and family are all one needs during times of hardship.

What’s Bad in My Mind & Me

Unfortunately, we have spent nearly 20 seasons glued to the television, watching the Kardashians discuss their sex tapes, misplaced diamonds in their swimming pools, and boob jobs. To determine how compassionate we could be, we have always required the unfiltered side of the stars. More often than not, we forget that they are also people, which is tragic.

To conclude, there is NOTHING negative to say about this presentation, other than the fact that you desire it would go on and on and on rather than ending after 1 hour and 35 minutes.

Memorable Highlights in My Mind & Me

It takes COURAGE to admit your insecurities in front of the entire world. Selena is a rare individual who can face the camera and admit that her small breasts and butt make her feel like a “12-year-old boy.” Additionally, there is no glorifying of the star she is or whitewashing of her image; merely an endeavor to show the public what she IS and what she is capable of, rather than her history.

I cannot help but admit that I had tears streaming down my cheeks by the sixth minute, which says so much about the documentary.

As someone who has followed her since she was a Disney child, I thought it would be quite difficult to review this film objectively. However, this has simply provided me with sufficient evidence that she ought to be taken more seriously and valued more.

My Mind And Me, the song’s title, is the appropriate conclusion for a topic such as this. As Selena has endeavored to keep her documentary, the lyrics as relevant as f*ck — raw, unedited, and full of realism.

Conclusion

My Mind & Me remains a lovely attempt by Selena Gomez to convey to the public her worth as opposed to how the world perceives her.

As she so eloquently stated, Selena is over her past and “hopes others might find peace and grace in theirs.” Hopefully, this will change, and we will come to appreciate her and all that she does with a more evolved perspective.
