Robert Downey Jr. Once Revealed That He Felt Like Carrying the Entire Mcu on His Back: “I Would Say I Was the Atlas of the Marvel Universe”

Casting-wise, Marvel Cinematic Universe did an excellent job; the actors nailed their superhero personas, adding to the studio’s current success; and a large portion of the credit belongs to the guy who started it all! Yes, it is Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, and it is impossible to envision anyone else in that role but Robert Downey Jr. We believe that every Marvel fan would agree that he is the personification of that character.

RDJ launched the MCU in 2008, and his memorable line “I am Iron Man” gave us all chills at the conclusion of his standalone film.

Tony Stark is a rich, arrogant, flashy, playboy philanthropist, and it has to reflect clearly in his character, which Downey achieved flawlessly; therefore, it is not an exaggeration to say that he carried the entire MCU on his shoulder, as he himself stated.

In addition to Chaplin actors, Tom Cruise and Nicolas Cage were also considered for the role, but Robert won the part, which proved to be a significant turning point in his life.

A few years ago, he disclosed on the Howard Stern Radio show on YouTube that he lacked confidence at the time and that he had altered his perspective to suit the requirements of his persona.

In this old video, the host asked Robert Downey Jr. what would happen if Marvel replaced him, to which the charismatic actor confidently said, “Well, let me rewind and say that if you had asked me this in 2008, 2009, or 2010, I would have said I was the Atlas of the Marvel Universe.

I was supporting it. They ought to create a shrine in my honor, whatever. I got to be the lead singer of a band that was destined for the hall of fame.”

In Avengers: Endgame, we were forced to say goodbye to Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man after he saved the whole MCU by fighting Thanos and repeating his famed catchphrase, “I am Iron Man.”

It was difficult for the fans when his character made us fall in love with a narcissistic and egotistic character; his character growth was portrayed exceptionally effectively, and it would be nearly impossible.

There are rumors that the original Avengers may return in Avengers: Kang Dynasty, but it’s too soon to tell; for now, we can only cross our fingers.
