Heartstopper Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plotline and More Updates You Need to Know!!

The second season of Heartstopper is coming to Netflix, which is great because the first season made us all cry with its sweet story of teen LGBTQ+ love and all the different ways it can look.

The show is about the sweet relationship between Nick and Charlie. Their love story has already been called one for the ages, and Netflix has been praised for showing this kind of love on screen. Since the first season was so easy to watch all at once, people were eager for a second season.

Well, we have even better news for you: the second season is already being filmed, and there are some exciting new things in it.

So, what will happen to them and their friends, who are just as lost and trying to find themselves as they are? Here’s all the information you need about Heartstopper’s second season.

Will There Be a Second Season of Heartstopper?

Yes, Netflix has said that Heartstopper will come back for a second and third season.

The poster wrote: “To everyone who fell in love with Nick & Charlie, cried while watching Alice Oseman’s magical story come to life, or felt like they belonged on screen for the first time, I am thrilled to announce… Heartstopper is going to have TWO MORE SEASONS.”

Alice Oseman, the writer and creator of the comic books, told RadioTimes.com and other press that she has a rough idea of how many episodes she would need to make a full live-action version of her comic books.

She said, “I think it would take four seasons to tell the whole story.” “I haven’t planned anything in detail, but it’s easy to divide the books into seasons, so I think four would be enough.”

Heartstopper Season 2 Release Date

As we’ve already said, Heartstopper will be back for a second season, but we don’t know when that will be.

It’s okay though, because we know we’re getting not just one new season, but TWO more! Netflix said that both shows would be coming at the end of May 2022, and creator Alice Oseman confirmed the news on Instagram.

Oseman put a video of her drawing Nick and Charlie as comics on a social media site. She then showed the finished product with the tag “2 more seasons!”

Along with the official news, actor Joe Locke shared memes made from behind-the-scenes photos from the show to celebrate the new episodes.

In September 2022, Netflix released a video of the cast back at Truman Academy and ready to start filming the next chapter of this story.

So, with this in mind, and taking into account the time it takes to make the show and then edit it afterward, we think it could come out around the same time as season one, which is April 2022.

Who Will Be Back for Heartstopper Season 2?

Without Kit Connor coming back as Nick and Joe Locke coming back as Charlie, Heartstopper wouldn’t be the show we know and love.

As the two start dating in public, their best friends Elle (played by Yasmin Finney), Tao (William Gao), Tara (Corinna Brown), Darcy (Kizzy Edgell), and Isaac will be there to back them up (Tobie Donovan).

Olivia Colman, who plays Nick’s loving mother, will probably also be back. In the last episode, she found out that her son was bisexual and in love with Charlie.

Fisayo Akinade will be back as Mr. Ajayi, the teacher who let Charlie and Nick hang out in his classroom during breaks while Nick figured out he was gay and didn’t want prying eyes on them.

But it probably won’t be all roses because Ben Hope, played by Sebastian Croft and Charlie’s secret ex who bullies him, is still around and could cause trouble.

Rhea Norwood will probably play Imogen, who liked Nick without knowing that he loved Charlie.

In May, the young actor told other reporters at the BAFTAs that he’d love for Jennifer Coolidge to join the Spring family. He told us, “I want Jennifer Coolidge to be my cool American grandma.”

Leila Khan was chosen to play Higgs Year 11 student Sahar Zahid after a casting call for “a non-binary or female plus-sized actor of British South Asian heritage.”

In the comics, Sahar’s best friends are Elle, Aled, Tara, Nick, Darcy, Charlie, and Tao, all of whom go to Truham or Higgs. “No nonsense,” “independent,” and “sometimes cynical” are some of the things that the casting notice says about Sahar.

Also, Bradley Riches, who was only in a few episodes of the first season, has been given the new role of Truman student James McEwan.

Nick Nelson’s big brother, David, is played by Jack Barton, and Mr. Farouk, a teacher at Truman, is played by Nima Taleghani

What Happens in Heartstopper Season 2?

Heartstopper is based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novels and web series of the same name. The first season of the Netflix show is actually based on the first two volumes of the graphic novels, so we can probably expect season 2 to be inspired by volume 3. Here is the official summary of volume 3:

Charlie didn’t think Nick would ever like him back, but now they’re dating. Nick has even worked up the courage to tell his mom that he is gay. But coming out doesn’t happen all at once, and Nick and Charlie are trying to figure out when to tell their friends that they’re dating. During a school trip to Paris, it’s even harder for them to hide their sexuality from their classmates. Nick and Charlie will need each other more than ever as their feelings for each other grow.

Joe Locke and Kit Connor were nominated for GQ’s Men of the Year, and when they talked to the magazine, they said that the show was in its second week of filming. Self-harm, eating disorders, and body dysmorphia will be topics of the new season.

For Joe, he can relate to the battles and mental health problems that his character Charlie faces. Joe told GQ, “The characters grow up with us, but we’re also growing up as people.” “Teenagers’ views of the world change quickly because of hormones and bad schools.

Joe said that he knows why so many teens, like the one he plays on Heartstopper, have problems with how they look. “Part of that is because most teen TV shows have 30-year-olds playing 17-year-olds,” he said. “They look like adults; 17-year-olds don’t have bodies like that.”

If you can’t wait until season 2 comes out, you can get the whole series of graphic novels below and find out what Nick and Charlie have been up to in the Heartstopper world.
