Lupin Part 3, on Netflix: Will It Be Released Soon?

Lupin Part 3 is being produced by Netflix now. It remains to be seen when the film will come out on Netflix. Although there is no official announcement yet, these two posts seem to suggest that it’s on its way.

The critical and public reception of the mystery thriller Lupin has been favorable. The launch of the show on Netflix occurred on January 8, 2021, and it was released in two parts.

The creators of the series are George Kay and Francois Uzan. Kay and Uzan, along with Eliane Montane and Sumera Srivastav, are also authors. The film is helmed by Louis Leterrier, Marcela Said, Ludovic Bernard, and Hugh Gelin.

When will the third season premiere? What’s the story? Who would play the main characters? Continue reading for further information.

Is the Lupin a True Story?

No, Lupin is not based on an actual event. It was, nonetheless, influenced by a literary figure. Assane Diop, the protagonist of the series, was influenced by the exploits of the master thief Arsène Lupin, a character created by the French author Maurice Leblanc in the early 1900s.

The fictional gentleman thief and master of disguise Lupin was first introduced in a series of short stories published in the magazine Je sais tout. In July 1905, the first story, “The Arrest of Arsène Lupin,” was published.

The character gained cult status and appeared in several other authors’ works, as well as numerous film, television, stage play, and comic book adaptations.

The subtitle for the first episode of the Netflix series Lupin is “Dans l’ombre d’Arsène,” which translates to “In the Shadow of Arsène.” Additionally, Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar, the first collection of Leblanc’s Lupin stories, was published in 1907.

This collection of stories links to the plot of the Netflix series Lupin. The first time you see them is in a flashback when a copy is given to the younger Assane. Later in the series, Assane presents his son with a new copy of the same novel.

When Will Lupin Part 3 Be Released?

According to a Tweet published by Netflix France, the series will premiere in 2023 alongside The Witcher season 3 and You season 4.

At this time, it is unclear whether the order in which they are written indicates the order in which they will be released, but we do know that You season 4 will premiere in February of 2019, while The Witcher season 3 will premiere in the summer of 2023.

This indicates that, contrary to prior statements by co-creator George Kay, the series could premiere in the latter half of 2023.

Lupin Cast

  • Ludivine Sagnier as Claire

Lupin Part 3 Plot

Omar Sy argues in an interview with EW that this gentleman thief could still be the subject of Lupin’s vengeance. “He has accomplished the majority, but not all, of the work. Several mysteries remained unsolved following the conclusion of episode 10.”

In addition, Assane’s restraint in turning Pelligrini over to the police after years of seeking vengeance suggests that his more controlled personality may return in Part 3.

As a result, Assane does not employ violence; he merely conducts his business. A driving concept for Lupin is that he never uses violence or murders anyone.

Lupin Part 3 Trailer

Netflix published a trailer for Lupin Part 3 on September 24, 2022. Assane begins the trailer by stating, “I avenged my father. I must safeguard my family. I desired to remain in the darkness, but I returned to the light. Now watch me vanish!”

Where to Watch Lupin Part 3?

The third installment of Lupin will debut on Netflix in 2019, the streaming service has stated. According to a Tweet published by Netflix France, the series will premiere in 2023.

Why is Lupin So Popular?

Immediately following the release of Lupin Part 1, the series entered the top ten on Netflix in France. However, the series gained popularity not only in its native country but also internationally.

In its first month, it was viewed by 70 million households, making it the most-viewed non-English series on Netflix. But why is Lupin so well-known?

The series may have become so popular because it contains a meta-narrative and references a well-known character from French literature.

The second reason for the series’ popularity could be its stellar cast. Omar Sy, the charismatic actor who portrays the series’ main character Assane, has captivated viewers with his acting skill and charisma.

Viewers also praised actors such as Hervé Pierre, Clotilde Hesme, Ludivine Sagnier, and Nicole Garcia.

Lupin Season 2 Recap

As the second Part of Lupin began, Assane Diop (Omar Sy) and Claire (Ludivine Sagnier) were hoping to locate their missing son, Raoul (Etan Simon).

After the first Part, viewers witnessed Raoul being abducted by Pellegrini’s (Hervé Pierre) henchman Leonard (Adama Niane) and driven away in a car.

Youssef Guedira (Soufiane Guerrab) stated in the early minutes how he knew Assane was assuming the identity of Arsene Lupin. He promised assistance in locating Raoul but forgot to inform Assane that he was with the police.

The suspenseful action began when the pair located Leonard in an abandoned mansion. Realizing that Youssef was with the police, he chose to confront Leonard by himself, believing that his son was inside the residence.

However, Leonard had created a trap and imprisoned Raoul in the trunk of his automobile. Assane and Leonard engaged in a battle, which culminated in Leonard setting fire to the car, leading supporters to believe that Raoul had passed away.

It was eventually revealed, however, that Youssef had rescued Raoul from the flaming truck and brought him to safety. Youssef was instructed to transport the child to a hotel where he would be reunited with his father.

However, this was yet another deception orchestrated by Hubert Pellegrini and retired investigator Gabriel Dumont (Vincent Garanger). Fortunately, Assane, who had successfully evaded the police, was able to use his cunning to get Raoul out of the hotel.

Once they were reunited, Raoul returned to his mother, whereas Assane was forced to flee from the police. Later in the series, he and his best friend Ben (Antoine Gouy) pondered methods to permanently eliminate Pelligrini.

They decided to manipulate his daughter Juliette (Clotilde Hesme) into betraying her father for what he had done to Diop’s father many years prior.

Conclusions

It seems as though Lupin Part 3 is definitely in production and nearing release! Although there’s still no official word from Netflix on when it will be released, the evidence points to a late 2022 or early 2023 release. We can’t wait to see what this new installment has in store for our favorite detective team!
