The Cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series – Where Are They Now?

After spending four seasons watching the cast of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” viewers probably feel like they went to high school with them. Of course, we all wonder how it turned out for classmates and what they’re doing now. Rather than imagine the futures of their fictional counterparts, let’s explore what the actresses and actors who starred in HSMTMTS did after they finished their high school roles.

Launching Music Careers

When Olivia Rodrigo (Nini) reduced her role in the series to focus on her recording career, she might have inspired a few of her co-stars. You can enjoy her musical performances live or in her latest nine music videos. After the series closed production, a few of the actors who played her fictional classmates also launched musical careers.

Joshua Bassett (Ricky) transferred his focus to his music career, recording his debut album, “The Golden Years,” due out July 26, 2024, and directed the music video for the song “Just Love,” according to Yahoo. Joe Serafini (Seb) has yet to land his next film or TV project, but he moved to New York City to pursue theater roles. The University of Michigan alumnus also released his first solo music in 2024, the single “That Special,” according to Broadway World. Adrian Lyles (Jet) has yet to land his next TV or film role, but he’s hard at work on original music and performing live, he stated on his official website.

Sticking with TV and Film

According to IMDB, most of the actors and actresses from the show landed new roles before the show wrapped. Julia Lester (Ashlyn) voiced the character Tina in five episodes of “Hailey’s on It!, and plays Hannah in the 2024 film “Prom Dates,” while Frankie A. Rodriguez (Carlos) plays the part of Perez in the upcoming TV movie “Tell Us Why You’re Here.” Dara Renee (Kourtney) plays Ulyana in the forthcoming “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” currently in post-production. Catch Matt Cornett (EJ) voicing Singer in two episodes of “Chibiverse.” Larry Saperstein (Big Red) plays Scott in the forthcoming film “The Legend of Lake Ronkonkoma: The Lady of the Lake,” currently in post-production.

Saylor Bell (Maddox) plays Sadie Yoo in the TV series “Walker” and has an unnamed role in the upcoming short film “The Experiment,” currently in post-production. Olivia Rose Keegan (Lily) plays Caroline in two episodes of “Daisy Jones & The Six” and Duela in the TV series “Gotham Nights.”

Those who played teachers and parents also went right to work after “graduation day.” Kate Reinders (Miss Jenn) plays an unnamed role in the upcoming short film “Don’t Lose Your Heart,” while Mark St. Cyr (Mr. Mazzara) plays Mike in an upcoming episode of the TV series “Linked.” The busy actor Alex Quijano (Mike) filmed some projects alongside his appearance in HSMTMTS, so he’s voiced the character of Mia’s Dad in “Leo,” and played Richard in the TV series “My Life with the Walter Boys,” Detective Parra in “Walker.” He voices two podcasts, narrating “(Un)Likeminded: A Sci-Fi Audio Anthology” and voicing the character of Mr. Churchill in “Moonburn.” He has two projects in the hopper, playing Manny in “Friend of Dave” and Kevin in “Daddy Issues,” currently in production.

The head of the show quickly transitioned to his next project. Tim Federle, who created the series and served as showrunner, will direct the major motion picture, “Sister Act 3,” starring Whoopi Goldberg.

In-Between Projects and Available to Work

Sofia Wylie (Gina) has yet to land her next project, but you can watch her on Netflix in the film “The School for Good and Evil,” filmed in 2022. Liamani Segura (Emmy), winner of the 2024 Gracie Allen Award for Actress in a Supporting Role – Comedy or Musical, has yet to land her next role. Similarly, New York City-based film, TV, and theater actress Alexis Nelis (Natalie Bagley) has yet to land her next role, and Villa Julie College alumni Kimberly Brooks (Michelle) has yet to land her next TV or film role.
