Savannah Judy was born to be a performer. As an actress she has starred alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Always having a passion for Music, Savannah formed the Indie Rock band Duplexity with her brother Luke Judy. They just released their third single ‘Demons’ on October 13th.  Savannah took time from her hectic schedule for this exclusive interview.

Your new single is called “Demons.” Tell us about this one.

‘Demons’ is an emotional Song about how someone feels when they have voices in their head that mean harm. It’s a relatable song about when someone is at their lowest. This song shows how it’s okay to feel emotions like this, and that accepting what’s happening inside your head is the way to overcome the low times.

What is your inspiration behind the single?

The inspiration behind the single is that even when you are young you are not spared from feeling negative thoughts and feelings, especially during times of crisis. Also, it is inspired by our experiences in life with relationships and emotions, our career in the entertainment business and all the stress it can cause and how to deal with it. It’s an eclectic mashup of pop, rock, and alternative music!

I’m sure it is a lot of fun recording and performing with your brother. What do you like most about your collaboration? 

What I like most about our collaboration is how well we get along. I’ve met many other siblings before, and every time they say “How do you guys get along so well? How do you not get on each other’s nerves!”

Luke and I have a special bond and we are each other’s best friend. We know exactly how to work with each other. I’m so lucky to be able to do this with my best friend in life!!

If you had to pick your favorite single you’ve recorded so far what would that be and why?

My favorite single I have recorded so far is probably, ‘Breaks my Heart’ which is on our debut EP. I started writing that song 2 years ago. I started writing it about a scenario about a guy who broke a girl’s heart and the emotions that came with it. Back then, I didn’t understand heartbreak, so it was just completely fictional. However, I went through my first breakup a while after that, and I went right back to the song and finished it. I was able to put so much more into it because the emotions I was feeling were real. It’s my favorite song because it’s completely raw.

What’s the biggest hurdle have you ever faced in your life?

The biggest hurdle I have ever faced in my life was the pandemic. I’m a very social person so it was very hard for me to be blocked from other people due to the pandemic. I was lucky enough to have a wonderful and supportive family to help me through this time of life, but it doesn’t mean it was any less hard. I also struggled with the worry for my brother, who was at risk, every day. It was a really scary time because no one knew what was going to happen or if the world was ever going to go back to what it was.

What is it you like most about being a musician? 

What I like most about being a musician is the freedom to be 100% myself! Music is also one of the most fun art forms for me, so I’m very happy I’m able to play/make music every day. I love that I get to write songs about anything I want and have a voice in the big wide world. That creative freedom is amazing. 

Do you have any future projects you can talk about?

We have a lot of projects we are currently working on! We have already completed our second EP and a few music videos. We plan on releasing an album sooner or later…but we do not have a deadline just in the future. Be prepared for more awesome songs from Duplexity!
