Unplugged with Naomi LABEAU: Author Behind 10 Secrets of Effective Advertising

In the neon-lit world of Advertising, very few can claim to have a soul that burns as brightly as their portfolio. Naomi LABEAU is a rare gem who’s been lighting up both stages and boardrooms. We managed to catch her during her whirlwind tour for an exclusive insight into her life, dreams, and the legacy she’s building.

Q: Naomi, every success story has a beginning. Yours seems to be woven with passion, dreams, and unstoppable drive. How did it all begin?

A: Ah, it all feels like yesterday. As a child, I was perpetually curious, always chasing a new hobby or skill. From chess to swimming, I was always on the go. And then, there was music. By the time I turned 14, I was penning down my own songs. It was my refuge, my way of expressing the world as I saw it.

Q: Your high school stint with Radio RCI is legendary! It’s rare for someone so young to leave such a mark. What did you learn from that experience?

A: That experience was my first real tryst with the professional world. It taught me two things: one, there’s no substitute for hard work; and two, to make a lasting impact, you need to add a unique value, your own touch to everything you do.

Q: Shifting gears a bit, let’s talk about Paris. Studying at Sup de Pub Paris sounds dreamy! Was it as transformative as they say?

A: Oh, absolutely! It was like diving into an ocean of knowledge. Every day was a new lesson, not just in advertising but in understanding human emotions, which I believe is the crux of any impactful ad campaign. It was all thanks to JEAN-CLAUDE PORLON who noticed my passion and suggested I take the entrance exam for Sup de Pub.

Q: Lap’s Agency is still in its infancy and has great potential. How do you envision its future, considering its current position?

A: Yes, Lap’s Agency is still finding its ground. What’s most important for us is our mission: to be a bridge for artists, guiding and supporting them. Our beginnings might be modest, but our vision is clear.

Q: Tell us a bit about your project, “Yawland”. What’s the vibe?

A: Well, “Yawland” is my baby! It’s a mix of all the adventures I’ve had in life, both in my work and personal journeys. We’re just getting started with it, but I’ve got a good feeling about where it’s heading!

Q: Many hail “10 Secrets of Effective Advertising” as a staple for both budding and established advertisers. How does it feel to contribute to the industry in such a meaningful way, and what do you hope readers take away from your book?

A: It’s genuinely humbling. My primary goal was to give back to an industry that has given me so much. If there’s one thing I hope readers grasp, it’s that genuine, emotion-driven advertising isn’t just a strategy; it’s an art. And like all arts, it’s about connecting heart to heart.

Q: The landscape of advertising is ever-evolving. In light of that, how do you envision the relevance of the insights in “10 Secrets of Effective Advertising” five years from now?

A: That’s a thought-provoking question. While tools and platforms may evolve, the core essence of human emotion remains timeless. The secrets I’ve shared are grounded in that essence. So, I believe the insights will still ring true, guiding advertisers to craft campaigns that resonate deeply, irrespective of Changing Landscapes.

Q: We’ve heard whispers about “30 Secrets for Enduring Through Time”. Can you give us a sneak peek into what readers can expect from it?

A: While “10 Secrets” was about connecting, this one is about lasting. In our fast-paced world, brands come and go, but how do you make something timeless? How do you ensure your brand and your message endure through changing landscapes? That’s the essence. It’s my deep dive into crafting legacies in an ever-evolving world. So, expect a lot of case studies, introspections, and yes, some secrets from my own journey!

Q: Lastly, for all those dreamers out there looking up to you, what’s the one piece of advice you’d give?

A: Never let your dreams be just dreams. It sounds cliché, but it’s the truth. Act on them, nurture them, and even if you face setbacks, remember – every story worth telling has its ups and downs. Stay authentic, stay passionate, and let your heart lead the way.
