Today, Seattle’s popular hip hop/rock/funk collective, Marshall Law Band, known for their empowering and thought-provoking lyrics, proudly announce the release of their long-awaited single, “Can’t Cheat the Heems,” accompanied by their captivating music video.

“Can’t Cheat the Heems” is an upbeat yet trippy anthem inspired by the band’s favorite word, “heems,” which has become a beloved part of the MLB lexicon. Born from MLB frontman and founder Marshall Hugh, the word “heems” refers to “the grind.” As Hugh explained, “no matter what passion you’re pursuing you have to put your time in and make the needed sacrifices to accomplish anything worth working for.”

The Marshall Law Band’s new music video “Can’t Cheat the Heems” brings to life the band’s signature blend of authenticity and wit. Directed by Marshall Law Band and Terra Nobody, the music video is a compilation of footage from Marshall Law Band’s first UK tour while visiting The BBC Network. The music video showcases the band’s electrifying live performances and the vibrant energy shared with their fans along their journey.

While the song was originally inspired by the disproportionate responses to the storming of the Capitol building and the Black Lives Matter protests, it also highlights the band’s personal growth. Their debut album, 12th & Pine, which heavily focused on social justice themes, contrasts to their upcoming second album which is much more focused on staying positive, persevering and uniting together.
