Mtwapa pharmacist Alex Munga charged in court for selling KEMSA drugs worth Ksh. 2 million

On Tuesday, an individual was accused of distributing public pharmaceutical medications to the tune of Ksh. 2 million by a Pharmacist in Mtwapa, which is located in Kilifi County.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, Alex Munga Sadi was discovered to be in custody of 41 different kinds of pharmaceuticals.

Sadi admitted his innocence to the accusations when he appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo. As a result, he was given the option to either post a bond of Ksh. 1 million or pay a cash bail of Ksh. 500,000.

On March 31, the matter will be heard in pre-trial proceedings.

His arrest comes only a few short weeks after three men were apprehended with medications that were suspected to have been looted from a healthcare center in Nairobi.

On February 21, the Governor of Nairobi, Johnson Sakaja, said that the culprits were apprehended while transporting the suspected stolen property in a truck, thanks to a tip from a member of the general population.

He made the statement that the three individuals "will serve as a lesson for everyone else who has been taking what is intended for the people."
