Cleaning lawn mower

Regular cleaning of robot lawn mowers is very important. It stops the grass from building up near the cutting blades and wheels of the lawn mower. The build-up of grass clippings can affect the performance of the lawn mower over time. If not sorted in time it can reduce the life span of the battery and the movability of the Robot Lawn Mower.

Cleaning a robot lawn mower does not require any special skill or tool. It is a very simple task to perform. All that is needed to clean the robot lawn mower is a coarse bristled, handheld brush, and a damp cloth. One should also wear gloves to protect hands from sharp lawn mower blades.

The very first thing to do before starting to clean the lawn mower is to turn off the master switch. The reason for switching off the master switch is to prevent cutting blades turn on unexpectedly. The location of the master switch varies from model to model. MoeBot S5 and S10 have a master switch on top of their head so that one can easily find and off when needed.

After turning it off place the lawn mower upside down on clean mate. Use a damp cloth to clean all the visible grass that sticks on the bottom side of the mower. To clean the visible grass clippings a use coarse bristled and handheld brush. Most of the clipping is gathered near the lawn mower wheels and cutting blades. One needs to give special attention to those dirty areas.

Sometimes grass clipping is still stuck under the wheels and blade area of the lawn mower. To clean it one can use a vacuum cleaner to suck all the small and big size grass clipping from inside the lawn mower.

When is bottom side is done place the machine on its wheels and start cleaning the lawn mower body with a damp cloth.

Changing the blades

Blades are the one who works the most in a robot lawn mower. This is why they need to be changed from time to time. The time slot will depend upon the individual robot lawn mower model that one has.

There are two types of robotic lawn mower blades

Rotating blades: These types of blades are much smaller in size, about 2-3 inches in size, and are attached to a rotating disc. One needs compared to change them more often as compared to solid blades. Ideally, it changes after every eight weeks or so.

Individually mounted blades: One can find these types of blades on John Deere, Ambrogio, and Robomow robot mowers. The cutting power of these lawnmowers is higher. Also, they tend to stay sharp much longer. Mostly it needs to replace only once every season.

It’s very easy to replace the cutting blades of a robot lawn mower. A new set of blades, screws, and a screwdriver is needed to change the older ones. One needs to wear protective gloves to protect his fingers from the sharp edges of the blades.

Battery Service and Maintenance

Most Robotic lawn mowers have lithium-ion batteries installed. These batteries don't need any maintenance. But, they do have a life span of 2 and 3 years or 300 to 500 charging cycles. The number of charging cycles depends upon the size of the lawn mower and the run time of the lawn mower. If one lawn mower is set to run for all week then the chances of replacement of its battery is higher as compared to the other lawn mower who has 2 to 3 running times in a week.

The performance of lithium-ion batteries drops in lower temperatures below 0 degrees Celcius. The ideal temperature for the working of this battery is between 20 to 25 degrees Celcius.

How to replace Robot Lawn Mower Battery

The method of changing the battery of the robot lawn mower is very easy. Most lawn mower company has a similar approach when it comes to replacement of the batteries.
