After the Italian Government approved the reorganization of Alitalia to Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA) on 10th October 2020, ITA Airways was founded on 11th November 2020. Following the closure of operations of Alitalia on 14th October 2021, ITA Airways became the state-owned carrier of Italy. However, ITA Airways started operations on 15th October 2021. The Ministry of Economics and Finance under the Government of Italy is the sole owner of this newly-formed airline.

The airline operations of Ita Airways cover domestic routes, European destinations, and some international ones. ITA Airways became a member of the SkyTeam Alliance on 29th October 2021. The frequent flyer loyalty program of ITA Airways is Volare.

You can talk to the airline team to know about its “Unaccompanied Minors” service. The airline provides this service to passengers between the ages of 5 and 14 years for domestic destinations and travelers between the range of 5 and 15 years for international destinations. This service is available for children who are traveling without an accompanying adult or for youngsters whose guardians are flying via a different cabin. To book this service, you should contact the airline helpdesk staff. The airline executives will require details of the person who will accompany the minor to the departure airport and the person who will pick up the child at the arrival airport. Note that the individual who accompanies the minor to the airport has to stay at the airport until the flight departs. Also, the person accompanying the child to the airport has to produce an identity document at the airport check-in counter.

In addition, if you’re traveling with your infant, you can reach out to the ITA Airways team to know about its services for the little ones. The airline offers bassinet seats for newborns on all international flights. Additionally, you can request a special meal for your baby when making your flight bookings. For children up to 2 years, the airline provides baby meals, which include fruits, vegetables, lean meat, and dessert dishes. In the case of children from 2 years to 12 years, the airline offers complete meals; sandwiches, hamburgers, and packaged foods are part of such meals.

Even if you’re traveling with your infant who is under 2 years, you can book an Infant fare for them. The Infant fare applies if your baby will be seated on your lap or in a certified car safety seat throughout the flight. To reserve a separate seat for your newborn, you can book a Child Fare for them.

Additionally, if you’re traveling within Europe and want to know the travel documents you need to travel, you can talk to the airline representatives. Visa, passport, and identification cards are among the requisite documents to carry for travel within Europe.
