Bollywood Actor and Director Satish Kaushik Passes Away at 66


Satish Kaushik, renowned for his roles like Calendar in Mr India and his directorial ventures, passed away at the age of 66 on Thursday. The news of his demise has shocked the film fraternity and his millions of fans worldwide. The actor reportedly suffered a heart attack while travelling in a car, and despite doctors' efforts to revive him, he breathed his last on March 9.


Survived by his wife Shashi and daughter Vanshika Kaushik, Satish Kaushik's body has been taken to Deendayal Hospital for postmortem. Following the formalities, the family will receive his mortal remains, and his last rites will be conducted later today. National Award-winning actor Anupam Kher confirmed the news of Kaushik's death in a tweet, where he expressed his shock and sorrow at losing his best friend of 45 years.


Condolences Pour In for the Deceased Artist


Apart from Kher, several other renowned names from the film industry extended their condolences to the bereaved family. Actor Kangana Ranaut, who directed Kaushik in her upcoming film Emergency, took to Twitter to pay her respects to the departed soul, calling him a "kind and genuine man" and her "biggest cheerleader." Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his grief at the sudden demise of the talented artist, stating that Kaushik's contributions to Indian cinema and artistic creations would always be remembered.


Director Madhur Bhandarkar, known for his critically acclaimed films, expressed his shock and sadness at losing an energetic and vibrant person like Kaushik. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri paid a poetic tribute to the actor, recalling the tales and stories that they shared and how artists like Kaushik never die.


Satish Kaushik's Life and Work


Born on April 13, 1956, in Haryana, Satish Kaushik started his career as a theatre artist before transitioning to Bollywood. He was known for his remarkable performances in iconic films like Mr India, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Saajan Chale Sasural, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Udta Punjab, and Soorma. He also won the prestigious Filmfare Best Comedian Award twice, for Ram Lakhan and Saajan Chale Sasural.


Apart from acting, Kaushik was also an acclaimed director, with successful films like Roop ki Rani Choron ka Raja, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, Tere Naam, Dhol, and Kaagaz to his credit. He was last seen in Rishi Kapoor's last film, Sharmaji Namkeen, which was released on Amazon Prime Video in 2022.


Satish Kaushik's sudden demise is a significant loss for the film industry and his fans, who will remember him for his outstanding work and contributions to Indian cinema.
