Vietnam Fails to Meet Expectations in Asian Games Sports Competitions

As of 3:00 pm on Wednesday, the fourth official day of competition at the quadrennial continental sporting event, China has asserted its dominance in the medal tally. They have secured an impressive count of 59 Gold Medals, along with 34 silver medals and 13 bronze medals.

The team achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing the South Korean delegation, who claimed 15 Gold medals, 16 silvers, and 22 bronzes. Additionally, they outperformed Japan, who managed to secure nine gold medals, 21 silvers, and 21 bronzes.

Among the nations of Southeast Asia, Thailand is currently in the lead in the medal standings. They have earned a total of five gold medals, one silver medal, and seven bronze medals.

The Thai athletes excelled in the sport of sailing and were able to secure three gold medals for their outstanding performances.

Two additional gold medals were earned in the taekwondo competitions, specifically in the men’s 63kg and women’s 49kg weight divisions.

In terms of medal count, Indonesia is currently ranked eighth, trailing Thailand. Indonesia has achieved three gold medals, one silver, and five bronzes.

In the history of Indonesian shooting at the Asian Games, Putra Muhammad Sejahtera Dwi secured two gold medals in the men’s 10m running target and 10m running target mixed run events. This achievement makes him the first Indonesian shooter to win gold at this prestigious competition.

The third gold medal was awarded to Horatius Harris, a talented wushu athlete.

Singapore currently holds two silver medals and four bronze medals, placing it temporarily in a tie for the 18th position with Mongolia.

Unfortunately, the Vietnamese delegation faces significant challenges in competing with their regional counterparts.

As of now, Vietnam is ranked 20th in the standings with a total of one silver medal and five bronze medals.

The men’s 10m running target event yielded Vietnam’s only silver medal, secured by shooter Ngo Huu Vuong.

Vietnam has assembled a delegation consisting of 504 participants and coaches, including 320 athletes, for the 19th Asian Games. The competition encompasses a wide range of 40 sports and 481 events. With a determined goal of securing at least two gold medals, Vietnam’s delegation is poised to compete until the tournament’s conclusion on October 8.
