EUNIC, the European Network of Independent Cultural Institutes in Hanoi, together with the Vietnam Central Studio of Documentary Scientific Film, is pleased to announce the 13th EUNIC European-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival. The festival will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from September 22nd to 28th.

Trinh Quang Tung, Deputy General Director of the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio, has announced that the upcoming festival will showcase a selection of 19 documentaries from various countries including Austria, Italy, Germany, Spain, the UK, Poland, Belgium (Wallonia-Brussels), and Vietnam. This event will be open to the public and free of charge for all film screenings.

This event is a yearly cultural gathering aimed at fostering cultural exchange between European countries and Vietnam.

This year, the Delegation of Wallonia-Brussels (Belgium) in Vietnam is overseeing the coordination of the film festival. The festival will feature one film from each European country, while Vietnam will present a total of 12 films.

Experience an incredible selection of critically acclaimed films that tackle pressing global issues. From climate change to women’s liberation, the risks of the digital age, and various social issues, our collection includes award-winning titles that are sure to inspire and provoke thought.

The lineup of international films featured in the festival includes Vesuvio or How They Learned to Live Among Volcanoes from Italy, The Happy Worker – Or How Work Was Sabotaged from Finland, The Girl Named Tania from Belgium, The Steadfast Ones from Germany, Where Does the Garbage Go from Austria, Living Witness: A Climate Story from the UK, and Muntadas In Hanoi: A Spanish-Vietnamese Urban Interpretation from Spain.

The 12 films from Vietnam that will be showcased in the event include “Children Of The Mist”, “Secrets From The Underground”, “My Enemy-My Friend”, “Above The Clouds”, and “Crime Behind Trust”, among others.

The highlight of the festival is “Muntadas In Hanoi: A Spanish-Vietnamese Urban Interpretation.”

In the film, the renowned Spanish conceptual artist Antoni Muntadas embarks on a captivating journey to explore Hanoi, Vietnam, for the first time. With his unique perspective, Muntadas immerses himself in the city’s vibrant wet market, pensive cemetery, and bustling traffic, delving into its essence. This documentary offers an introspective exploration of Hanoi’s urban landscape and the intricate tapestry of life within it.

The free screenings will take place at the Central Scientific and Documentary Film Studio, located at 465 Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi. Additionally, screenings will also happen at DCINE Ben Thanh Cinema, situated at 6 Mac Dinh Chi Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
