The contest for the 50th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973 – 2023) will be organized by the special committee under the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ho Chi Minh City (JCCH), along with several other agencies and units from both countries. JCCH Chairman Mizushima Kozo shared this information during a press meeting in HCM City on September 12.

The contest is open to Vietnamese individuals aged 6 – 22, who can choose to sing the song “Tomodachi – Tinh ban” in Vietnamese or Japanese languages either online or in-person at designated venues in Hanoi, HCM City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, and Can Tho cities.

The top five performers will have the opportunity to visit Japan for an exchange program and perform together with local youth. By organizing this contest, the organizing board aims to popularize the Vietnam – Japan Friendship song and promote the idea of “Tomodachi – Tinh ban” among the people, especially the younger generation, to strengthen the friendship between the two countries in the present and future.

Ono Masuo, the Japanese Consul General in HCM City, emphasized that after 50 years of diplomatic relations, the friendship between Vietnam and Japan has flourished in various aspects and at all levels, reflecting their extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia. Recognizing the crucial role of the younger generation in enhancing bilateral relations, he believes this singing contest will further strengthen the Vietnam – Japan friendship.

The song “Tomodachi – Tinh ban” is being promoted in schools of both countries and will also be performed at official events commemorating the 50th anniversary.
