According to VietnamPlus, the field Training is scheduled to occur on September 20, and will be attended by high-ranking officials from Vietnam, Japan, and other members of the ADMM+.

The training session, co-chaired by Vietnam and Japan, will feature the participation of 198 Peacekeeping experts and trainees from 18 ADMM+ countries, including 26 representatives from Vietnam.

Sent. Lieut. Gen. Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and head of the steering committee for the training, recently conducted an inspection of the preparations for the upcoming event at the National Training Centre No. 4 in the My Duc district of Hanoi.

He requested that relevant units work closely with the Japanese side to finalize preparations, ensuring the highest level of safety and reaffirming the position of the VPA.

During his meeting with Vietnam and Japan’s peacekeeping operation expert groups, Tan emphasized that Vietnam is committed to facilitating the training organization and expressed his desire for close coordination with Japan.

Additionally, he commended the participation of the Japanese side in co-chairing the training.

According to an article in the Nhan dan (People) newspaper, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has recently issued the State President’s decision to deploy an additional three police officers to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

In 2022, Maj. Gen. Dao Xuan Lan, Chief of the standing office for UN Peacekeeping Operations at the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), shared that the MPS had dispatched four officers for participation in UN peacekeeping missions. This included one officer who served at the UN headquarters and three officers who were assigned to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

All four individuals have demonstrated exceptional performance in carrying out their duties. They have consistently exhibited their competence, integrity, and professionalism as officers of the People’s Public Security. Their efforts have significantly contributed to enhancing the reputation of Vietnam and promoting a positive image internationally, particularly within the United Nations and among our international partners.

On August 12, the State President made a decisive move by signing a formal decision to dispatch three additional officers to UNMISS, consequently increasing the total number of personnel engaged in UN peacekeeping operations to seven.

In addition to individuals, the standing office will soon propose the deployment of units to peacekeeping operations, Lan stated.

On behalf of the State President, MPS Deputy Minister Sen. Lt. Gen. Luong Tam Quang presented the deployment decision to the three officers.

The first engineering unit of Vietnam to participate in UN peacekeeping operations in a new area has successfully completed its assigned tasks and returned home on August 15. Despite facing numerous challenges, the unit demonstrated exceptional resilience and determination in overcoming them.

The peacekeepers have actively participated in the mass mobilization efforts by offering healthcare services to the local population, assisting them in cultivating vegetables, facilitating educational opportunities, and constructing classrooms and libraries in Abyei.

All 184 members of our organization have been recognized for their exceptional dedication and contributions to the UN peacekeeping cause. They have each been honored with the prestigious “For the UN peacekeeping cause” medal from the United Nations.
