On Sunday afternoon, a tragic accident occurred in Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province, Vietnam’s Central Highlands, resulting in the loss of three individuals. Among them were Paollo, an esteemed member of HAGL FC, as well as assistant coach Duong Minh Ninh and healthcare specialist Dao Trong Tri. The accident involved one four-seater car and two large trucks.
During the completion of repatriation procedures, Paollo’s coffin is temporarily housed at the funeral home located within Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hospital in the province.
Unfortunately, his girlfriend is unable to complete the necessary authorization procedures to repatriate his body as they were not married at the time.
According to the current regulations, only the father or mother has the authority to complete the necessary authorization procedures.
HAGL FC has been experiencing difficulties in reaching out to his mother, who resides in Brazil. Additionally, it was previously mentioned that a woman, who is now on her way to Vietnam, is actually the mother of his girlfriend.
The girlfriend’s mother had made arrangements to fly to Dubai in order to wait for the completion of visa procedures for entry into Vietnam. However, she was unable to proceed with her plans as the necessary paperwork was not completed in time and she had to return to Portugal on Monday morning.

The club is currently uncertain about his family’s decision regarding the repatriation of his body to either Brazil or Portugal. However, his girlfriend’s family expresses their desire to bring his body back to Portugal, the place where he began his football career and was granted a permanent resident card.
Nguyen Tan Anh, the managing director of HAGL FC, stated in an interview with Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Monday that the club is actively attempting to reach out to his mother and collaborating with relevant authorities to facilitate her repatriation.
HAGL FC chairman Doan Nguyen Duc paid a visit to the grieving families and extended his heartfelt condolences.
Duc has instructed his subordinates to take charge of all necessary tasks to provide assistance to the victims and their families. He also assured that the club will fully cover all expenses pertaining to their funerals and repatriation.
According to Ha Anh Thai, deputy director of the provincial transport department, a fatal collision transpired on Sunday at 2:20 pm on the section of the Ho Chi Minh Highway that passes through Ia Hru Commune, Chu Puh District. This location is approximately 80km away from the provincial capital city of Pleiku.
The football club’s car, belonging to the Pleiku-based team, was severely damaged in a collision, becoming trapped between two heavy trucks.
The accident occurred on August 11 when members of a football club were returning to Pleiku after completing a match in Nghe An Province, situated in north-central Vietnam.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai suffered a 0-1 loss to the host team, Song Lam Nghe An, in the final round of the V-League 1.
