The Indian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is organizing the Namaste Vietnam Festival 2023 in several cities of Vietnam from August 12-19. The six-day event will feature a fusion of Indian and Vietnamese cultural programs and the presence of Indian celebrities, according to the Indian Consulate.
The festival will take place in HCMC from August 12-15, in Da Lat city on August 16, and in Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, and Ha Nam provinces on other days. These six days of events will showcase a combination of Indian and Vietnamese cultural performances, along with the attendance of Indian celebrities.

The festival will feature performances by renowned Indian artists and directors. Indian Consul General Madan Mohan Sethi stated that two important Indian classical dance troupes, Qawwali and Kuchipudi, as well as around 20 Indian leading directors and actors, will participate in this year’s festival.
Kuchipudi is a classical dance style originating from the state of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in India. Qawwali is a popular form of ritual music in the Middle East.
Vietnamese singer Vo Ha Tram, known for the hit song “Ve Voi Em”, will be the special guest at the Grand Opening of the Namaste Vietnam Festival 2023 in HCMC.
During the festival, the Consulate will also organize a tourism event with the participation of 30 tour operators and a railway seminar for Indian companies to explore the potential business opportunities in Vietnam’s tourism sector.
The event aims to promote positive connections and engagement between India and Vietnam in various sectors. While the two countries have a strong friendship on the political front, there are ample opportunities in areas such as trade, investment, tourism, education, and healthcare that need to be explored further.
In the past three years, the Indian Consulate has successfully organized 300 events spanning different sectors, which has contributed to a visible positive orientation towards India and its people.
The first day of the festival on August 12 is expected to attract 2,000 local attendees, including 500 Indian expats, 500 Vietnamese guests (mostly importers, exporters, and companies), and some international guests.

As part of India’s Namaste Vietnam Festival, a film festival will be held from August 13-15 in HCMC, promising to delight cinephiles.
The line-up of films includes “The Signature”, “Roam Rome Men”, “Tuition”, “Hum do hamre do”, “Chhallang”, “Popcorn”, and “Kaya Palat”. Notably, the movie “The Signature” will have its world premiere in Vietnam, aiming to stimulate the growth of the film industry.

The first edition of the festival was held for one month in HCMC in 2022 as a major program to celebrate India’s 75th Independence Day and the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-India diplomatic ties.
