ABOUT THE ROLE

Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, you will support the Principal Investigator in the delivery of research activity on the Hydrogen Integration for Accelerated Energy Transitions (HI-ACT). Tasks will entail modelling, analysis, and optimisation of Energy Systems considering the impacts of interaction between different energy vectors. Of particular interest is the potential for Hydrogen integration to ensure resilience and security while also achieving net-zero.

You will have an opportunity to undertake high-quality research in collaboration with leading academic and industrial researchers in the field, interacting with various policymakers.

The role is fixed term and the period of the contract will be 24 months.

ABOUT THE TEAM

This Research Project is being delivered within the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering The Department has core groups in Astrophysics (Solar and Space Physics), Mathematics (Mathematics of Complex and Nonlinear Phenomena), Statistics (Applied Statistics), Renewable Energy (Renewable Energy Technologies and Materials), Electrical Engineering (Electrical Power and Control Systems), Communications (Optical Communications Research Group) and Materials Physics (Smart Materials & Surfaces Laboratory). The department has many success stories such as:

  • Ranked 25th in the UK for research power in engineering in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, with 90% of our research outputs rated as world-leading or internationally excellent.
  • Ranked in the world top-250 for Engineering and Technology in the Times Higher Education’s World University subject rankings 2022.

ABOUT YOU

Applicants should hold a PhD degree awarded in an area of research within energy systems and have demonstrable specialist expert knowledge in modelling, analysis, and optimisation of Energy Systems.
