We are looking for an experienced and motivated candidate to lead our specialist Startup Business Development team in North America. In this role you will be responsible for leading a team of former startup founders/operators who champion and work alongside the world’s best startups and investors in Fintech, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Web3, and Climate Tech. You will work closely with the startup ecosystem as well as internal teams to define the strategy to ensure leading founders are choosing to build their startups on AWS.

The ideal candidate will possess a track record of creating strategy and working cross functionally to successfully execute. You also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business challenges with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions and work cross-organizationally to build consensus. You’ll be expected to execute in the face of ambiguity, shifting priorities, and limited resources. Competency in cloud computing will be required for ongoing success – as is a keen sense of ownership, curiosity, scrappiness, and drive.

Key job responsibilities

– Hiring and developing a high performing team.

– Creating a vision to inspire others and mobilize resources across Amazon to deliver results for startup customers.

– Use data driven frameworks to prioritize efforts and decide when to expand into new industry coverage areas.

– Collaborate with colleagues across AWS while acting as the voice of the startup customer by discovering, capturing, and reporting back patterns and learnings from the field.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 10+ years of business experience

– 5+ years of customer facing Business Development or Sales experience

– Knowledge of core cloud computing concepts and ability to go deep enough on technical aspects to differentiate among various AWS services, as well as top use cases for popular startup industries

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Prior industry experience in Fintech, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Web3, or Climate Tech

– Exited founder/CxO/operator of one or more ventures in one of the industries the team covers

– Speaking engagements at startup conferences and industry events

– Minimum of 2 years of management experience

– AWS SA Associate or equivalent certification

– Experience working effectively and cross-functionally within a large organization

– Strong verbal and written communications skills

– Willingness to travel within North America

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $154,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $288,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
