Summary Justice Unit Clerk – x 6 Positions in Safety Camera and Ticket Enforcement Team and Smart Motorway Team – HC607397

Location: Whiteley, Parkway

Salary: Scale 4, £23,100 – £25,353 per annum

Hours: Full time (37 hours per week) or Part time (18.5 hours per week)

Contract: Permanent

Closing Date: Sunday 1st October 2023 at 23:59 hours

About the Role

Are you looking for a role that has a positive impact on Road Safety? Do you have the skills to work as part of a diverse team in a fast paced environment?

As a SJU Clerk you will work within our Safety Camera and Ticket Enforcement Team or Smart Motorway Team and carry out a wide range of clerical functions involved in the enforcement and prosecution of offences that occur on the strategic road network. Your duties will involve a range of tasks required to process cases through the fixed penalty and criminal justice systems with a view to improving road safety and tackling poor driving. You will use a wide variety of police systems, liaise with the public and develop a good understanding of the relevant legislation and procedures involved in road traffic matters.

Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Deal with correspondence and process telephone calls in a professional and timely manner
  • Liaise with and provide guidance to internal and external individuals, departments, agencies and companies
  • Accurately input and update information onto various databases within the unit.
  • Interrogate the different databases to deal with queries
  • To generate standard and non-standard documents
  • Carry out general administrative duties including dealing with incoming and outgoing post
  • Adhere to Service Level Agreements within the Summary Justice Unit

Prosecutions

  • Safety Camera – Use a range of video and digital photography equipment to facilitate the accurate extraction of evidence from film sequences and to accurately enter the result into a database in order to initiate procedures contained in Road Traffic legislation.
  • Highlight cases where suspected criminal or prevarication offences exist.
  • Magistrates Input – Interrogate and update RMS to raise prosecution occurrence to commence prosecution procedures including the preparation of summons Prepare Production Orders requesting her Majesty’s’ Prisons to produce prisoners for court hearing.
  • Process Not Served Summons enquiries

Essential Qualifications

(3-5 passes) OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.

Essential Experience

Experience of working in a busy administrative environment, undertaking complex administrative tasks to a high standard.
