As a Business Development Manager at Nillion, you will play a pivotal role in driving the expansion of our web3 ecosystem. Your technical expertise, crypto-native mindset, and strategic thinking will be critical in creating meaningful partnerships and fostering a thriving ecosystem of developers, founding entrepreneurs (FEs), and enterprises. Your role will be pivotal in positioning Nillion as a trusted partner within the market, allowing us to build lasting relationships that drive mutual success. Your efforts will contribute significantly to our mission of developing a network of valuable partnerships that enable continuous growth and innovation at Nillion.

Nillion is a remote-first organization primarily focused on European and US East Coast time zones. Some travel may be required.

What you’ll work on

  • You’ll develop a framework and strategy for growing our web3 ecosystem. Identify target market segments across verticals, while understanding use case needs, and creating tailored approaches to engage and onboard partners.
  • Actively identify, source and evangelize potential partners, including developers, founding entrepreneurs (FEs), startups, and larger enterprises. Collaborate closely with our product and marketing teams to develop compelling value propositions for these partners.
  • Facilitate and engage in technical discussions with partners to showcase the capabilities of Nillion’s technology. Collaborate with our developer relations team to address queries, provide technical insights, and ensure alignment between partner needs and our offerings.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with all partners, acting as the primary point of contact through various pipeline stages of discovery and incubation. Understand their goals and challenges, and work collaboratively to drive mutual success through our technology.
  • Leverage your understanding of network effects to design and implement strategies that amplify the growth of our ecosystem. Identify opportunities for cross-partner collaboration that enhance the overall value proposition for stakeholders.
  • Continuously monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging use case opportunities within web3. Translate these insights into actionable strategies to maintain our competitive edge and capture new market segments.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on partnership progress, ecosystem growth metrics, and traction KPIs. Utilize data-driven insights to refine and optimize partnership strategies over time.
  • Represent Nillion at industry events, conferences, and webinars. Contribute thought leadership content to relevant platforms, showcasing our expertise and enhancing our reputation within the web3 community.

What we’re looking for

  • Solid experience (5+ years) in business development, partnerships management or ecosystem growth, within technology or web3 industries. Ability to demonstrate a successful track record of sourcing and nurturing partnerships, whilst continuously surpassing traction targets.
  • Skills in both inbound and outbound lead generation and qualification, with the ability to manage a significant number of leads, across numerous platforms and channels, through various stages of the partnership lifecycle (utilizing CRM applications like Pipedrive and Airtable).
  • Deep knowledge of network effects and their pivotal role in shaping web3 ecosystems. Ability to identify strategic collaboration opportunities that enhance the overall value proposition of our tech and accelerate user adoption, platform engagement, and ecosystem proliferation.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing grant or funding programs, with the ability to set objectives, define RFPs and qualification criteria, and perform the evaluation and due diligence of proposals.
  • Technical understanding of blockchain, decentralized protocols, zero-knowledge proofs, homomorphic encryption, and distributed technologies such as multi-party computation (MPC).
  • Crypto-native knowledge of DeFi, NFTs, smart contracts, DAOs, oracles, bridges, Dapps and other components of web3. As well as an understanding of how decentralized tech is being adopted by traditional industries, spanning use cases from Healthcare to AI/ML. Familiarity with the latest trends, projects, and protocols will be critical in driving meaningful partnerships.
  • A proactive and self-motivated mindset, with the ability to think outside the box. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment and exhibit a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial. You should be able to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and compelling manner to a diverse audience, ranging from developers to C-suite executives.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams and stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills to gather and analyze market data, assess partnership opportunities, evaluate potential synergies, and develop comprehensive strategies for growth.
  • A bachelor’s degree in the fields of computer science, engineering, business strategy, economics, sales, marketing or a related discipline. Courses or certification in blockchain, distributed and/or privacy technologies would be a plus.
