Zappon, a budding Japanese author, began serializing Banished From The Hero’s Party, I Decided To Live A Quiet Life In The Countryside as a novel series in October 2017. A year later he collaborated with the illustrator, Yasumo, to manifest a light novel series. It is currently hosted by Kadokawa Shoten and has been accumulated into twelve volumes in both the Japanese and English languages. While Gideon tries to prove his worth daily, Ruti struggles with her endless stream of responsibilities. Ares, a party member who aspires to marry Ruti and garner noble status, feels threatened by her relationship with Gideon. He then weaves a conspiracy against Ragnason. He proves Ragnason incompetent and eventually turns everybody against him despite Ruti’s intermittent disapproval.

Gideon, now banished from the Hero’s Party, starts a fresh life in the countryside and establishes his own apothecary shop under the alias, Red. His serene life is disrupted once again by the intrusion of a ghost from his past–Rit, a B-ranked adventurer and his former colleague. What follows is a string of events, fueled by conspiracies, heartache and adventures.

Gifted with the Divine Blessing Of The Assassin and Spirit Scout, Rizlet “Rit” of Loggervia, is the princess of a major military power, Duchy. In the past, Rit’s “master” was slaughtered by the general of the Demon Lord’s Army and went on a nearly suicidal mission. She was submerged in depression when Gideon revamped her and fueled her desire for vengeance. Now, after witnessing him as Red, an apothecary drenched in grief, Rit insists on staying with him. Though Red resists Rit’s request initially, he soon gives up due to her stubbornness.

Meanwhile, Ruti struggles with keeping the Hero’s Party floating and Ares is unable to carry out the high-end missions Red was once in charge of. Rit begins tagging along with Red, depsite his exasperation, and begins accompanying him to his store and eventually moves in with him. Though she tries to camouflage her blossoming feelings, Rit’s subtle hints increase Red’s scepticism. The duo weaves through several enemies and ultimately, manages to defeat them all, reuniting with Ruti by the end of the debut season.
