As it happens, Creedverse–a term coined by Michael B. Jordan–is expanding with each passing Film. Jordan, who leads the Creed franchise as the protagonist, Adonis Johnson, is the major reason why Creedverse has seen such tremendous growth. A spin-off of the infamous Rocky film franchise which followed the heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed, this film series revolves around Apollo’s son, Adonis. An amateur boxer, Adonis begrudgingly lives a life as far away as possible from his father’s shadow. It is evident when Adonis doesn’t even bother acknowledging his father’s surname and uses Johnson as his last name.

However, when an emotional turmoil shakes Adonis to the core, he has no choice but to embrace the truth and stop feeding himself lies. Adonis has to accept his passion towards boxing and overcome the hurdles thrown his way. For 3 movies, Donnie has been the focal point. It seems like he is on his way for the fourth, too!

Creed 4 Release Date

After Rocky Balboa’s 2006 release, the Rocky franchise witnessed a deserving conclusion. However, in 2013, Ryan Coogler began working on a spin-off film and Creed was the byproduct of 2 years of brainstorming. In November 2015, under Ryan’s direction, Creed was broadcasted in theatres. It didn’t come off as a surprise to the sports drama junkies that Creed surpassed the 170 million dollar mark. The blockbuster success of Creed opened up new opportunities for the franchise and let Coogler experiment with the new boxing sensation, Adonis Johnson.

Creed 2 premiered 3 years later and was followed by a third instalment in March 2023. Creed 3 is the monumental film of the franchise since it marks Jordan’s directorial debut with Coogler taking on the role of producer. Jordan has expressed his interest in expanding the Creedverse and letting his character, Adonis stay in the boxing world for a while longer. However, his words haven’t been backed up by any official confirmations yet. Given Jordan’s significance in the project, we can safely assume Creed 4 is on its way to the silver screen.

Since the Creed franchise is notorious for keeping fans on the hook for at least 3 years, Creed 4 is expected to premiere in 2026 or late 2025 by the earliest.

Creed 4 Storyline: What Will Be New This Time?

Creedverse is a universe of boxers, of legends who have given up their all to be able to step into the ring. Adonis, the son of the infamous heavyweight legend, Apollo, hasn’t had it easy in life. Serving a sentence in youth detention, Adonis has already learnt the ins and outs of punching and kicking. When Apollo’s widow comes to fetch her husband’s child and offers him a life beyond the detention centre, Adonis’ world flips on its axis. Here ensues Adonis’ journey from fighting in a bar to becoming a boxing legend.

In Creed 3, Johnson established a boxing academy of his own. Creed 4 will most likely witness Adonis leading the academy and breeding skilled boxers. Of course, there could be a legendary well-established boxer being offended by Adonis and a dispute could brew between them. But so far, all of these predictions are in the air.

The entire Creed franchise has been centred around Adonis Johnson Creed’s life (Michael B. Jordan). He commenced his journey by fighting in a local bar before he decided to channel his talent and step into the boxing ring. He has been trained by his father’s mentor, Robert Balboa aka Rocky (Sylvester Stallone). Rocky was once a rival of Apollo but by the end of the Rocky franchise, they became friends.

Bianca Taylor (Tessa Thompson) is a singer and songwriter who quickly garnered Adonis’ interest. Due to her hearing impairment, her life hasn’t been a piece of cake–something she shares in common with Adonis. Creed 4 will witness the return of Jordan and Thompson, Stallone might not arrive for the film. Expect a new antagonist waiting for Adonis on the other side of the ring!
