VIDEO : Offset and Travis Scott Mourn TakeOff’s Loss in New Song “Say My Grace”

Offset and Travis Scott are grappling with the tragic loss of their close friend TakeOff in a heartfelt track titled “Say My Grace,” featured on Offset’s sophomore solo album, “Set It Off.” The emotional song addresses the pain and confusion they feel after TakeOff’s untimely death.

Offset’s lyrics reflect his deep grief and his quest for answers, as he questions, “Why I didn’t get an answer? Why I lose my brother to bullets? Why I lose my grandma to cancer? Why me, God? I need answers.”

Travis Scott’s verse reveals his struggle with the loss as well, expressing, “I’m in a meditate state, Ever since we lost bro, ain’t really much more I can take.”

The song’s accompanying music video, shot in Thailand and directed by Maya Table, enhances the Emotional Impact of the track.

TakeOff, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, tragically lost his life in November 2022 when he was shot and killed outside a Houston bowling alley. He was only 28 years old. The incident occurred during an altercation that escalated into a shootout, where TakeOff was an “innocent bystander.” An autopsy revealed that he was fatally wounded in the head and torso.

In December of the same year, Patrick Xavier Clark, known as DJ Pat, was arrested and charged with the murder. Clark has maintained his innocence and was released from jail on a $1 million bond in January.

Offset has been candid about the profound emotional impact of TakeOff’s death, openly discussing his grief and the pain he experiences daily. He acknowledged that he often breaks down over the loss, despite portraying strength in public.

Offset’s anguish is evident in other songs on “Set It Off,” such as “Night Vision,” where he vents his anger about TakeOff’s death, explaining that it haunts his thoughts and disrupts his sleep.

The album features an array of prominent artists, including Future, Cardi B, Latto, Chloe Bailey, Young Nudy, and Don Toliver. “Set It Off” is Offset’s follow-up to his solo debut, “Father of 4,” released in 2019.
