In an interview with Billboard, the veteran Hip Hop mogul discussed his journey to becoming a billionaire and identified two artists he believes have the potential to reach the 10-figure threshold.
Diddy first mentioned Nipsey Hussle, describing him as a young version of himself who had the potential for immense success. However, he highlighted two contemporary artists who he sees as promising billionaires in the making.
One of those artists is Travis Scott, whom Diddy commends for diversifying his portfolio and understanding how to elevate his career to the next level. Diddy sees Travis Scott as someone who has a strategic approach to business, similar to his own.
Additionally, Diddy mentioned Yung Miami from the City Girls as another artist with incredible potential. He compared her to Oprah, highlighting her endless possibilities in various ventures, such as her clothing line, television shows, performances, and live podcasts. Diddy expressed deep respect for both Travis Scott and Yung Miami’s work ethics and their potential to break through as billionaire entrepreneurs.
Diddy himself achieved billionaire status in October 2022, becoming only the third Hip Hop figure to reach this financial milestone, following JAY-Z and Kanye West. His wealth is built on various successful ventures, including his vodka brand Cîroc, DeLeón tequila, the Revolt media network, and his renowned music catalog.
While Diddy has solidified his position as a billionaire, Kanye West lost his billionaire title after adidas terminated their Yeezy partnership due to a wave of controversial statements he made. This caused his net worth to plummet from $1.5 billion to around $400 million.
On the other hand, JAY-Z’s wealth has continued to grow, with his net worth reaching $2.5 billion, largely attributed to the sale of his controlling stake in D’USSÉ to Bacardi. Forbes recognizes him as the richest figure in Hip Hop and one of the wealthiest individuals on the planet.
Despite his immense wealth and fame, Diddy recently experienced a reminder that he is not above the law. He was pulled over by Miami police for playing his new album, “The Love Album: Off the Grid,” too loudly. During the encounter, Diddy had some choice words for the police officer but ultimately drove away from the scene.
