Erias Lukwago Asserts Control Over FDC as Interim President

In a press conference held today on September 25th, Erias Lukwago, the President of the FDC Katonga faction, expressed his unwavering authority as the interim president of the party. The conference, held at Katonga in Kampala, unveiled their strategy to permanently remove Nandala Mafabi and Patrick Oboi Amuriat from the FDC offices in Najjanankumbi.

Lukwago revealed that the National Executive Committee would convene this week to deliberate on the new roadmap for electing new party leaders. He also confirmed that they had officially informed banks where the party holds accounts not to accept signatures from Nandala Mafabi and the Treasurer General, as they no longer represented the party’s interests.

During the conference, Lukwago emphasized his status as the new FDC president, asserting his control over all party affairs. He urged the media to disregard statements from Najjanankumbi referring to him as an impostor, labeling both Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Nandala Mafabi as disgraces to the party who lacked the credibility to speak on its behalf.

Lukwago also drew parallels between Patrick Oboi Amuriat, Nandala Mafabi, and Nobert Mao, suggesting that they were following the same script as Mao did with the Democratic Party by aligning with Gen Museveni. The growing tensions within the FDC show no signs of abating, with reconciliation between the Najjanankumbi and Katonga factions appearing increasingly elusive.
