Twitter is in mourning, given that Twitter‘s owner, Elon Musk just fired the Twitter bird, and replaced it with an X!

Why Is X Marking The Spot On Twitter?
On Sunday, Musk announced, via a tweet, of course, that Twitter will now have a new logo, an X. This shook up the Twitter users, who have for years known the social media app for its distinctive blue bird logo, also called the Larry Bird logo, so named by co-founder Biz Stone to honor NBA great Larry Bird, who played for Stone’s beloved Boston Celtics.
Given that the app is called Twitter, and users “tweet” on it, the bird made a ton of sense as a logo. But Musk’s announcement shook this complacency as he wrote, “X.com now points to twitter.com. Interim X logo goes live later today.”
Musk also tweeted some funnies, indicating the new logo:

Musk bought the site for a whopping $44 billion in October last year and immediately began to make big changes, including laying off the head honchos as well as several others on the staff. He also changed the company’s official name in April to X Holdings Corp, after his early venture X.com, to realize his dream of creating “X, the everything app.”

Users Mourn Via Memes & Hashtags Like #RIPTwitter
Fans feel it’s an awful rebranding as one put it down, almost poetically, “The new Twitter X sends such a *negative message*. The X when a teacher marked an answer wrong. The X in X rated (violence, p*rn). A nod to the sad rune of Nid. It’s a No Entry. So many negative connotations. The Twitter Bird was free in Nature. Give us a PHOENIX, not an X!”

Meanwhile, Twitter’s chief executive, Linda Yaccarino, is toeing the line as she tweeted on Sunday, “It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.” She also explained how X would go on to be centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking and it would slowly be a revolutionary global one-stop for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities.

Most Hate On New Logo & Elon Musk
Plenty of Twitter users let the world know what they thought of the new logo, and nothing seemed like a compliment. Then again, Musk’s son is called “X Æ A-Xii (nicknamed X), and daughter is named, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk (nicknamed Y).” Twitter as X, or TwitterX is tame in comparison, not that Twitter users seem to care as they continued to slam the “X.”
