Blake Lively skipped out on the Met Gala this year, and it’s a big deal because she always slays. What did she do instead?

Every year Lively shows up and shows out to the event of the year in the fashion world, but this year was different. Lively welcomed her newest little one and decided it was in her best interest to stay home.

But she did want to share with her followers what she was up to, even though it had nothing to do with pouring herself into a tight fashion statement; it was all about the boobs! Lively pumped in what looked like a public washroom.

She certainly had the time to take a selfie because you are locked in one place if you have to hide to pump anyway. “First Monday in May,” she teased. At the same time, you are covering up with a lilac purple sweater.

Lively is now a busy mom of four kids after marrying Ryan Reynolds in 2012 James, 7, Inez, 6, and Betty, 3. In 2023, she popped up in photos very pregnant, and soon after, she showed up again skinny AF and bounced back after baby number four was delivered.

Some should be happy that Livy could not attend this year because she applies pressure at the gala every year by showing up in stunning outfits. This year would have been ideal because she counts Karl Lagerfeld, who the gala honored this year, as a friend.

But she told fans this is the year she will watch from her couch. In 2011 she attended with Lagerfeld. And last year, she was a host when the theme was “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.”

Lively showed up in a pink metallic gown; if that was amazing enough, that gown transformed into a vast turquoise dress, paying homage to the Statue of Liberty, which was very on-brand for that year’s theme.

It sucked that Lively couldn’t show up this year, but fans still got an eyeful from Cardi B, Ice Spice, Rihanna, the Kardashian/Jenner family Kim Kardashian and Kendall and Kye Jenner.

And Jared Leto was a cat…, so there’s that.

Blake Lively Had Other Plans?

A rumor is that Lively skipped the gala to support her husband’s soccer team. She supposedly will be in England for an open-top bus parade in Wrexham. Recently Reynolds and actor/writer Rob McElhenney’s team Wrexham AFC won the National League.

They bought the team in 2020, which is a big deal. Reynolds and Lively have walked plenty of red carpets already plus, it seems like she has an open invitation to the prestigious gala yearly, so there is always next year.

That being said, some fans can’t help but wonder what could have been if she did show up. Seeing as she and Lagerfeld were good friends, she must have some classics, and if not, she would indeed have access to his archives.

Guess we will never know.
