History of Computer Programming Language - Explained by ACTE!

Who is Created the programming Language?

When Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage collaborated on the Analytical Engine, a crude mechanical computer, they created the first Programming Language in 1883. Lovelace was able to recognize the significance of numbers and that they may signify more than just items' numerical quantities.

First computer programming language:

Early in the 1950s, the first functional programming languages created to convey instructions to a computer were created. One of the earliest high-level languages ever created for an electronic computer was John Mauchly's Short Code, which was suggested in 1949. Short Code statements conveyed mathematical expressions in a comprehensible manner as opposed to machine code. The method was much slower than executing the equivalent machine code since the program had to be translated into machine code each time it was executed.

| In 1980s Consolidation, Modules, Performance:

Imperative languages underwent some consolidation in the 1980s. All of these movements built upon the concepts created in the prior decade rather than creating new paradigms. Object-oriented and systems programming were integrated in C++. Ada is a systems programming language that was Standardized by the US government for use by defended companies. Large quantities of money were invested in research into so-called fifth-generation programming languages that included logic programming elements, both in Japan and elsewhere. The ML and Lisp communities worked to Standardize them. This decade saw the start of the research of Miranda, a functional language with lazy evaluation.

The implementation of programming languages also advanced during the 1980s. In computer architecture, the RISC movement proposed that hardware be created for compilers rather than for human assembly programmers. The RISC movement increased interest in high-level language compilation technology thanks to increases in processor speed that made it possible to use more aggressive compilation strategies.

| In 1990s Internet Pages:

The next significant historical development in programming languages was the Internet's explosive expansion in the middle of the 1990s. The Internet provided a chance for new languages to be embraced by providing a fundamentally different platform for computer systems. The early integration of the JavaScript programming language with the Netscape Navigator web browser in particular helped it gain popularity. Other scripting languages have gained popularity in the creation of unique applications for web servers like PHP. The 1990s saw extensive recombination and development of old concepts rather than any fundamental innovation in imperative languages. Functional languages started to catch on during this time. Programmer productivity was a key guiding principle. There have been a lot of "rapid application development" (RAD) languages that have evolved.

Current Trends Programming Language:

Now , Research and industry both continue to advance programming languages.

  • There is growing acceptance of functional programming in commonly used commercial languages, including pure functional programming, which makes code easier to reason about and parallelize (at both micro- and macro- levels)
  • Constructs that facilitate distributed and concurrent programming.
  • Mechanisms for enhancing the language's security and reliability checking include dependent typing, expanded static checking, information flow management, and static thread safety.
  • Alternate composability and modularity mechanisms include mixins, traits, typeclasses, delegates, and aspects.
  • Developing software that is component-oriented.
  • Reflection, metaprogramming, or using the abstract syntax tree
  • AOP, or aspect-oriented programming, enables programmers to introduce code at "join points" into another module or class.
  • XML code generation and domain-specific languages for graphical interface (XUL, XAML)

The majority of formal programming languages are text-based, though they can also be graphical. They are a sort of programming language.

The two parts of syntax (form) and semantics (meaning), which are often described by a formal language, make up the definition of a programming language. Some languages—like the C programming language—have a specification document that serves as its definition, but other languages, like Perl, have a dominant implementation that serves as their reference. Both exist in certain languages, with the base language being defined by a standard and extensions frequently drawn from the most popular implementation.
