South Africans React To DJ Sbu’s New Sugar-Free MoFaya Drink
South Africans have shared their reactions to DJ Sbu’s new MoFaya drink variant.
DJ Sbu has been in the news a lot this year for several reasons. Everyone is talking about the radio star and businessman again for a new drink variant he released into the market.
In 2014, DJ Sbu released “MoFaya” into the energy drink market. The drink has only sold one flavour since its release in 2014. It has also grown to be a big seller in SA. Returning to Twitter (now known as X), the “Lengoma” hitmaker announced a new variant called “MoFaya Sugar-free Energy Drink.”

He wrote, “You’ve spoken & we’ve listened. Finally! Introducing the all-new @mofaya_official Sugarfree.” Some fans excitedly announced that they couldn’t wait to try, while others said they didn’t like it. A Twitter user opined that DJ Sbu was part of the reason why his drinks may not sell as much as it should.
“Til today, I maintain that DJ Sbu is the biggest impediment to Mofaya’s growth. You can’t want to be bigger than ur brand or compete with it. No one ‘knows’ Dragon or Switch owners, but THEY SELL. If 80% of people don’t like DJ Sbu, that’s 50% of people not even willing to listen.” – SamTrong3
